I wonder what you, guys think of .vg domains. "vg" stands for "very good" or "video Games".

vg is very commonly used to describe very good. To see it, type "vg" in ebay search bar and you will find loads of vg.

Video games (vg) are also very popular among young people.

What do you think of its prospect?

Don't forget that it's a shortened form of VURG.

.VG costs around $35 per domain and a similar price to .VC.

Mainly good for great keyword domains and usually not a good idea if the .VC alternative is available. Possibly good for a video game site.

There are some relatively popular .vg domains.
Theres a gamers.vg which sends 200+ visitors a month to my typo gamer.vg :)

I've seen two character domains seem to be selling for a small profit on eBay.
(I've got an LL and two NNs with matching characters so that suits me)

I get mine from idotz.net- $34.95pa

VURG does have a point about .vc, I sometimes get the two confused.

I've got the following .vg domains, but don't seem to get much traffic or interest. Maybe someone has a way to market .vg?

clothes.vg
downloads.vg
flashgames.vg
okay.vg
videos.vg

Many good 2-letter .vg names are being sold between $80 and $200. It is not too bad if you can reg it at $34.95 and sell it soon at $80. There used to be a number of 2-letter .vg names available, but the registry operator AdamsNames (also operates .gd / .tc / .ms) decided a couple of weeks ago to reserve all 2-letter and 3-letter names and sell it at a higher premium price ($500 for a 2-letter name).

Here is a bit interesting thing.. AdamsNames left some 2-letter names unreserved (perhaps, their mimimum-wage part time employees made mistakes). I checked all 2-letter LL and NN names on .vg/.gd/.tc/.ms. There is no LL/NN left in .gd/.ms. But there is one (only one, that is, ww.vg) left unreserved in .vg (in fact, there used to be two unreserved. I regged the other one and now ww.vg is the only one available.). There are still many (around 10-20) good LL names left unreserved in .tc. and also some LLL left unreserved in .gd (especially, many LLL starting with W are available. "who.gd" used to be left unreserved, and I saw it was registered yesterday by someone).

As for .vc, it is operated by a different company (not AdamsNames) and most of 2-letter LL names are still available on .vc. Currently, .vc is the only TLD that you can find a mass amount of 2-letter names available for registration.

2-letter .vg/.tc can be registered at iDotz.net.
It appears that 2-letter .vc can be registered at Dotster.com (I haven't actually regged any .vc, so I am not 100% sure about Dotster.com).

The cheapest place to reg these is at GoDaddy. It's something liky $34.95, but if you search around you can find a coupon for $5 off a $30+ purchase.. So it comes out to $29.95. At least this is the cheapest I've seen. I haven't registered a .vg, but a .ms, they're basically the same thing :)

Sorry out off topic, but is that true "$500 for a 2-letter name"? I know that AdamsNames decided a couple of weeks ago to reserve all 2-letter and 3-letter names, but no idea about what is the reserve price.

I am asking this because of I own the Domain pc.gd. And AdamsNames doesn't take any name back which was registered before they decided to reserve the price.

They reserved all remaining 2-letter and 3-letter names. However, if you had already registered any of those names before they reserved, your domains are not affected (you still own it at a regular reg fee, and you can still transfer it to another owner/registrar as usual). They cannot take the name back from you if you already registered it, as it is already yours.

I was in the middle of registering a .gd name through iDotz at the time AdamsNames reserved it. I was about to pay for the reg, and the transaction was not complete. I found the name suddenly reserved by AdamsNames. I sent an email to AdamsNames asking to allow me to have the name at a regular reg fee since I was already in the middle of registration (I attached an email from iDotz). But, their answer was no. They said in their reply that they would charge $500 for 2-letter names, and it is their new policy.

I managed to find a few unreserved 2-letter .vg/.tc names (left unreserved by mistake), and was able to register them through iDotz. There are still some 2-letter .tc names available.

I wish I knew they were going to do that. I owned TV.vg and sold it a few months ago...it'd be worth a bit more now.

Are you sure that all 3-letter .gd names are reserved? I picked up the word "cam" yesterday.

The $500 for a 2 letter name, is that $500/year or just for the 1st year, then back to the usual reg fee?

Yes, as I mentioned in the earlier reply, some 3-letter LLL .gd are still left unreserved. I found a lot of LLL starting with "w" available, but I didn't know that even "cam" was available.

They reserved all nearly-useless names like "ayx.gd" and "zyc.gd", and left such a good name like "cam.gd" and "who.gd" (regged also yesteray by someone). Oh...

The $500 for 2-letter name is -- as far as I understand -- for the 1st year only.

It looks like quite a lot of holes in 3-letter names... Wow. They reserved "xqz.vg" but left "who.vg".. Haha..

I registered cv.vg a few days prior to they reserved them. What do you think of it? CV or curriculum vitae is a popular keyword.

Yes, it sounds like cv collection (or job searching) site for the Video Games (vg) industry.

I registered 6 LL.vg DNs about 2 mths ago including "ex.vg". The question is now, how will it effect resales?
Under normal circumstances i would guess since Adams is selling them for $500, that any LL/NN .vg should have a reasonable resale value of anywhere from ..... to....? (scarcity and reg. value considered)
