I run firefox 2.0. under Ubuntu Linux, and rarely use IE6 (unless I happen to be in VMWare Windows 2000 which I use for outlook) - I can't even use IE7 as it doesn't support Windows 2000 Pro. Not unhappy... firefox is superb... one ir two bugs.. but on the whole excellent.

You seem to be mistaken. I think you meant to say:

"I will not install IE7, i am happy at the moment in IE6
even though FIREFOX is fast & secure"

:)

AHH, far too many trolls.

They are both good browsers but both have their ups and downs. When it comes down to it, it is decided by personal opinon and consequently your own choice. For example i have nothing against IE, i think it's a good browser but yes it does have some insecurities. Having said that if you use a good anti virus and firewall like me you will never have any problems.

I use firefox because i prefer it, to me...it feels more stable and responds quicker, i also like the idea of it being open source and customizable but not all require this in a browser.

As for http//ie7.com, i saw that a few months back...i am surprised it has not been taken down or at least challenged by Microsoft if i I'm honest.

That's what i can't stand...people thinking they can shut off 70% of their visitors by "blocking" visitors from IE. Pages that say things like 'ie sux, dl firefox to be cool!' get on my nerves beyond compare.

People who do that cannot call themselves developers on any level.

edit: As for the Mac comment, yeah it is lol. Anyone got any comments on how IE6/7 runs under Wine? I have not tried it.

Yep! Unfortunately I have to use it for Microsoft Update. It's a piece of crud.

Depends how they present it. If they say "Please use FIREFOX to use our services." or something is better than, quote: "ie sux, dl firefox to be cool!".

I saw a page on digg the other day that - and it was a government site - it required IE 4 or BELOW....

I don't agree. Doing it at all warrants what i said in my opinion. By all means promote your favorite browser on your site but do not force people to download a browser to use a service.

If you do that what's the point of having more than one browser choice? To take it a bit far what's the point of making a choice based on preference?

I like this splash page:
Sorry, you are using Internet Explorer, the most popular browser out there! We don't allow that, so basically I've just killed off 70% of my traffic! Feel free to tell your friends not to stop by!

Oh, i just wrote that :hehe:

Rofl, nice quote. And I despise Internet Explorer and all of Microsoft! If I could I'd have Linux on this but Windows is flexible.

And I'm only use cruddy IE7 because Firefox v2 has been screwing up for some reason.
