Hello,

Recently several times I had situation when selling domains with godaddy and people asking me to put the random info for whois and sending me just email id by pm, and thats unacceptable to me because it just creates doubts that you might be a scammer playing games.
Whats the deal? Do you think Its my duty to find a random whois for you and push the domain? I am gonna report such cases in the future.

Just got second pm from a person who asked to put random info instead of providng correct whois info.

What do you guys say?

GoDaddy .... grrrrrr ...

I see both sides ... but let me be clear ... for the purposes of a QUICK and free push (one can't use the term "easy" with the GoDaddy system, IMHO), GoDaddy's primary need is the corresponding email address and not that of the full Contact details of the Buyer - for the sake of expediency, and to complete the sale/transaction - especially if one has multiple sales / transfers occuring at one time, for instance at the conclusion of an Namepros Live Auction™ "Big Show" - in such cases, I think it's OK to initiate the transfer using the appropriate email address and "quick" Whois Contact information, IMHO. This, of course, with the understanding that the Buyer will update that important information once the domain is safely in his/her GoDaddy account and has had a chance to breath (I know, because I have been in these shoes on many occassions). :gl:

One may also check the Namepros Trader Ratings™ ... and have good, relative faith that things will go smoothly (or not), IMHO. For single domain transactions, and when time permits ... yes, complete Whois Contact details should be exchanged via PM along with the important GoDaddy email address ... for transfer upon payment in full! :talk:
Just my two sense.

As far as I remember all of such cases I had involved only new members, no old member so far with over 20 itrader lets say, but the problem I see here is that what random info to make up? the godaddy system wont let me bypass any field empty and I have to put the city name, postal code, phone no. etc.
The person who is requesting that random info has plenty of time for browsing forum but no time to respond with correct info which takes hardly one minut...
This practice is very popular on dp forum where buyer will send mail id and ask me to rack my brain and make up one whois for him/her which he/she will fix later :yell:

Thanks Jeff for your two sense :snaphappy:

You're welcome, and I guess I, too, would be more weary of new / newer members with little history of successful completed transactions or equivalent Trader Ratings©, and so forth! :imho:
Best regards.

I agree it doesn't take 2 mins to send the full details for the whois but on the other hand you only need to do this for Godaddy. In most cases you only need the recipients account name when pushing with other registrars.
IMHO you should supply the details that are applicable to each registry.

i'm a fan of asdf-ing all those other fields. if you are dealing with a scammer you can always just report invalid whois anyway can't you?
