Just wondering what kinds of prices for generic three-letter .com were selling at last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. I'm trying to see if there is an upward trend or not. Thanks! :)

See, thing is, I can get my hands right now on a .com for about 1,100 dollars. I'm trying to decide if it's a worthy investment. It comes with 3 more years of registration, too, so..

What do you all think?

It really depends on how attractive (or not) the letters are in your 3-letter dotcom. For really ugly combinations, you might still be able to get these for less than $1,000-.

Generally, what is considered attractive? I've seen some sell recently that have no acronym affiliated with them, but they had a format similar to this:

JFF.com
BRR.com
YUU.com
PWW.com
SYY.com

etc.

You see what I mean? One character, followed by two of the same character. Is that a safe kind of domain that'll sell well, or does it still depend?

Your above cited examples would be considered 'nice' combinations for their brandability. They should sell above $1,000 at the reseller level, and several times that if you can find a suitable end-user.

Very cool, then 1100 might be a good investment if I hold onto it for a year or two, it seems.

Thanks for your input.

I think three letter .coms are an excellent investment. I haven't seen any for under $xxxx recently myself.

I've sold at as now as $350 (absolute worst possible letters) and as high as $3750 in the last 16 months.

What are "bad" letters to have in a 3-letter .com?

In general, the lesser letters are:

j, k, q, u, v, x, y, z

Some would argue that w should be on that list, but I disagree.

Rock on,
Andrew
