Well I need some suggestions. I am trying to work on getting a site up and I am looking for a cms. I have already designed a layout and coded it with css (its probably not that good as its my first time coding with css). Ive looked at some cmss that have templates but I wasnt sure if this is what I need because mine is custom. I want to use a cms so I can manage everything easier.
Basically, I need something that is easy to use once installed, has the ability to use my own layout, and is not too difficult to set everything up for someone new to this. I was thinking about phpwcms or e107 but Im not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

If you're interested in the programming experience, I would suggest coding one yourself. It's not hard to setup; you just use a simple database (MySQL) and let a script fetch the right stuff from the database (content and maybe some CSS variables), pass it on to your template and display the template.

The advantage of building one yourself, it that you can keep it as simple as you want.

Well I dont think I really know enough to make my own. I just want to get something up and just learn as I go along. At this point, I would rather have a pre-built cms. But thanks for the input. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Yeah i'm pretty much in the same boat - I feel I can design much better layouts than any you'll find on a pre-made CMS, but I completely lack the programming knowledge to code it myself... so i'm in need of a simple way to us an existing CMS as a backend to power my own custom template and layout :/
