I'd like to hear your stories of your traffic results after buying tdnam's High Traffic names. Have you experienced the traffic you expected, higher traffic than expected, lower traffic than expected? And how long as the traffic lasted?

Plus, which tools do you use to check the traffic prior to bidding a one of these names.

And if you were fooled, what is it you think the problem was, if you know?

Thanks. If we can hear the experiences of many people, maybe we can help each other to not get screwed.

I haven't gambled on buying one of them yet. I'd be interested in hearing other's experiences.

I am interested in this too, friendly bump :)

But I have purchased a expired YAHOO typo for $5 + renewal fee. The traffic shows on TDNAM is around 80, but actually it brings me 350 UV/month and high click rate. :)

Ok. I worked for GoDaddy a while back, and when they introduced the "traffic" estimates, I gambed and picked up a few. I didnt use any tool to check the data, but relied on their data (I did work for the company).

I found that traffic did better than expected on the 3 domains I had purchased. I picked up a "Sushi" related domain name that was supposed to get 300 uniques per month, this domain name actually gets around 2k.

I then picked up an adult domain name that supposedly got 3k uniques per month. I found that after I acquired it it was doing around 10k per month. I also picked up a random domain name that got 100 uniques per month - and thats about what it was getting.

I did notice in the Adult domain that traffic was dropping each month, so after I milked it for about 3 months - I sold it for double what I paid for it. Which was pretty good since I did well with the traffic while it was strong.

The problem I have noticed is that people are bidding very high on traffic domain names, making it very difficult to recoup funds just on traffic.

I think all and all GoDaddy isnt being deceptive about the traffic, if anything it seems that they are underestimating traffic.

Just my thoughts, I hold no affiliation with GoDaddy anymore, I think some of the services they offer are good, and others are bad. I feel I am being honest and no biased in this situation.

Thanks,
Justin
