.com domains is pretty much the best for any type of website with the exception of maybe .org for non-profits.

But if you're looking for a good short and cheaper domain .. then probably .info, or maybe even .org

You can check out .guru too in theory.

It completely depends on what exactly you are doing and who your intended audience is and how you plan to reach them.
