Hi, I invested in January on 48 very generic .space domains, such as england.space, miami.space, planes.space... I really liked the sound of this nGTLD and the meaning of it. Space evokes freedom, comfort... What do you think about the potentiality of .space ?

Don't feel bad about it because everybody does that, EVERYBODY!

As long as you learn from your mistakes, which it sounds like you have.

Thanks for saying that. :) I have definitely learned my lesson, the first of what will probably be many lessons.

The domain registries are now doing the same thing. They are buying every extension that they can just because it is available. It seems like they just started domaining yesterday. Even the unrealistic prices that they have put on their "Premium" domains. The new guy thinks his terrible domain is worth $50,000. He sits on it for a couple years with no sales, then has to drastically lower prices.

If the registries hold onto their "premiums" for to long, the public will lose interest and there will be other extensions that come out that will have people looking elsewhere.

.space has a couple keywords that are good with it, but if they are high priced or held back for too long, then we will move on.

Time for an update! A lot has happened since the last post in this thread: rockets have become reusable, reducing launch costs by orders of magnitude, the first satellite mega constellations are being launched into orbit, the first private space stations are being assembled and prepared for launch and space is being commercialized at an accelerating speed. The space economy is growing and maturing quickly: private companies are now dominating the industry. 2026 shapes up to be a decisive year for space exploration and investment: for the first time since 1972 humans will leave earth's orbit and travel around the moon with NASA's Artemis II mission. The space industry might also be responsible for one of the largest IPOs in human history, if SpaceX goes public in summer, which looks increasingly likely.

The space economy is expected to grow to 1.8 trillion USD by 2035. The number of private space companies will likely grow by orders of magnitude - think satellite and equipment manufacturing and maintenance, launch services, space mining, space tourism, telecommunications, defense, research in various fields etc. etc.

.space-domains are already used by various space companies. We might see the TLD lift off soon.

"Like the internet in its early days, the space industry is standing at an inflection point."
McKinsey, WEF; 2024

The space industry is among the fastest growing industries in the world. McKinsey forecasts that space-related businesses will generate 1.8 trillion USD in revenue by 2035. The IPO of SpaceX which might take place as soon as June 2026 will bring unprecedented attention to the emerging space economy. Already a growing number of space companies are using .space-domains, for example:

interlune.space (space mining)
kepler.space (satellite network)
wisesat.space
ramon.space (space-resilient computing infrastructure)
slingshot.space (satellite tracking, space traffic coordination)
morpheus.space (electric propulsion)
rfa.space (rocket manufacturer)
nova.space (market intelligence)

Addendum: the number of space companies using .space domains is growing rapidly. Notable players include

all.space
dorbit.space
leolabs.space
pixxel.space
scout.space
apex.space
vyoma.space
trueanomaly.space
outpost.space
gravitics.space

The upcoming SpaceX IPO (scheduled for June 12th 2026) will most certainly lead to a further increase in the number of space economy startups and funding activity across the industry.
