I registered the domain webto.tv at the time that there were alot of reports circulating about the growth of web to tv streaming.

It appears now that this trend is gathering momentum with internet tvs and web to tv streaming devices.

Just interested to know what your thoughts are with the domain I registered?

Thanks for your input. I am also a blogger so I could quite easily develop a site on it. So I think that I will find a way to monetize it.

The value of your name is obviously in its development, as a video blog about the Web and TV convergence the name speaks to me.

...I concur wholeheartedly.

Develop the site for visibility and incubate for a year or two...it will increase its price and desirability. Don't give it away!

Better to start with a domain that is worth something in my view.

Time will tell I guess. I think opinion is divided based on the domain on its own and the domain with a developed site. My plan for this year is to build up virtual real estate. In some cases that will be selling a domain on its own and in some cases I will develop wordpress sites to sell once monetized.

Better to start with a domain that is worth something in my view.

...that would be your view. My view always incorporates marketing, something you should have known about, given your elaborate history of domaining.

A shame that you neglected this vital aspect.

touchรฉ...and au contraire, actually.

I was concerned by your post to me and decided to actually look up the word appraisal in Wikipedia and came up with this...

Appraisal may refer to:
Look up appraisal in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.
A decision-making process Appraisal (decision analysis) - a decision method
Project appraisal - comparing options to deliver an objective
Economic appraisal - an appraisal based on comparison of monetary equivalents
Property Valuation Real estate appraisal - the practice of determining the value of real property
Domain appraisal - the act of evaluating the worth of a specific domain name, such as google.com.

While the last definition is the one that is most often considered, this thread that Domain Detective started asked specifically this question...

"Just interested to know what your thoughts are with the domain I registered?"

Indeed, I find that I in fact did render an appraisal, albeit not in the regard of a monetary value, but an appraisal as defined by the dictionary at any rate.

"...a nice hack. Good luck on your efforts."
"...I concur wholeheartedly.

Develop the site for visibility and incubate for a year or two...it will increase its price and desirability. Don't give it away!

"...that would be your view. My view always incorporates marketing..."

So, albeit not in the confines of what you may consider, the statements were indeed appraisals in the sense that it was an appropriate answer to his question.

I thank you for your question as I did learn or refreshed my memory of the definition of this word.

touchรฉ...and au contraire, actually.

I said $0, the is an appraisal.

All you've said is that you think the name is nice and wish the owner good luck. You sound like a swell guy and I'm sure it will earn you brownie points but it is of no real help to anyone, so how about actually giving an appraisal instead of arguing with me?

My appraisal may have been of no real help to you and/or others, yet I am sure that it is as valid an appraisal as your meager efforts are, which was of no real help to some as well, I would venture to guess.

Brownie points? How quaint that you post that term!

... had you the inspiration to actually read and at least make the slightest attempt to comprehend my last post, you would have discovered that I did indeed render an appraisal of the name according to the original statement made by DomainDetective.

Nor did I argue with you, my dear Quixote; never would I be that naive or foolhardy to do that!

I merely uncovered other meanings of the oft-limited/self-limited definition of the word "appraisal" and complied with the request of the member starting this thread by attributing other factors to the name aside from its pecuniary potential.

Yes, my dear crusader, although devoid of the dollar/Euro symbols so often put up on the posts not unlike signs at the side of a road, my thoughts and opinions WERE IN ACTUALITY APPRAISALS as well, as valid as yours to be either absorbed or discounted by the reader of said post(s).

Carry on, my brave knight. Tomorrow brings upon us yet another day of the 21st century with which to enter the non ending crusade.

Your once colorful banner that you so boldly carry to dissuade and discourage those choosing to invest in the extension fades along with the 20th century you seek to protect and vainly return us to. Alack and alas, it is never coming back regardless of your valiant and altruistic efforts. But I prithee, never stop your efforts. We need crusaders such as yourself to show us where we've been while we advance toward the future, not unlike the rear-view mirror of a vehicle.

Again, Carry on!

You haven't given an appraisal, just pats on the back for the domain owner and paragraphs of argument with me.

You haven't given an appraisal...

..to you, of course not, since you choose to ignore the other definitions of the word that the rest of the world accepts.

That is your weakness, Quixote, not your strength. But carry on and fight the good(albeit by now weathered and tired) fight.

We're counting on you!
