I'm on the verge of creating my website. I know a fair bit of Photoshop but no coding languages. Not, would it be possible to make the website layout etc, slice it and then download dreamweaver and use that to export it to html? I've heard people doing this before but not sure if it's a good way of doing it? Also, can you add links etc in photoshop by using the slice tool?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards Joe.

It can be done via dreamweaver if you know how. Meany people use it. The best way to do it is to hand code it in my opinion you have more control over the fine tuning.
If you can not code may i sugest that you hire someone to code it?
You can not add links via the slice tool as it is a image program. links are html.

Like noted, Dreamweaver is a possibility. I would strongly not recommend this due to Dreamweavers errors. Especially when viewed in different browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc.) you start to notice inconsistancies. I would recommend hard coding.

You can start to learn hard coding or you can hire a coder. If you are new and fairly good with design, then I would suggest hiring a coder.

Good Luck,

I'd have to agree that hand coding is the best option. Its just about the only way to get a rather flawless look in all browsers, although some errors might still occur. You can learn about html at w3schools

If you don't want to learn to code it yourself then your best bet is to find someone to do it for you. I'm sure you could find someone here at namepros that would do for a fair price. There are alot of good designers and programmers in the community that could help you out.

I would strongly recommend Dreamweavers. You can start to learn by using help from websites . If you are a novise and good in design, then I would suggest try google search to find out your solution.

Do not do image slicing and code in cs because it is just a waste of excess code which in the long run will eventually make your file size per page that much larger then they need to be. Hand coding is the way to go but if you do use dreamweaver be selective with what you use it for because dreamweaver too has historically added dreamweaver code to pages when using their click to add buttons (ie mouseover navs, instant forms, ect...) Run a search on google for html templates. Your layout already exists and is free. Just find a template you like and customize it for your particular needs. Below is a link to a good site with a variety of various tableless templates you may use for free:
