ok so you have made your lovely layout and u need to slice it and export for the web with html and images or just images and self code it, what in general do you look to do when slicing your design, ive been in a bit of a pickle lately with mines having random slices here and there which disjoint when content is added etc etc.

feedback appreciated :hi:

I don't use the slice tool. I just cut it out with rectangle tool and such and then hand code all of it. I make sure not to let Photoshop do it.

Same here. I used the automatic thing once, and didn't like it.

You do have to be careful in how you position guides, though, when you're preparing to set up the slices. Only position guides when you're at 100% magnification, otherwise you may position guides in the middle of pixels which will cause slight inaccuracies.

avoid slices all together. they are bad.

they sput out this horrible tables with rows and rows of filled crap. none of it is needed. you restrict your target audience, you discriminate against disabled people, phone browsers cant pass them, they look ugly without style sheets, there just not good.

google wont spider them as well as it could, the pages will render slow.

xhtml + css = webstandards = good
slicing + tables = no standards = bad

tables should be used for presenting data, not for layout.
