Newbie question- using photoshop with dreamweaver?

i m trying to create a website which has a single/modular layout which is repeated along the length of a page 2-3 times. with different contents in each repeatation.

my quesion is what is the most efficient way to create such a web page.

What i am doing right now is this:
I created my master(and in fact one and only)layout in photoshop. created my slice. inserted my 1st set of images. then saved the file for web that created a page1.html file and its slice images. then i replaced my 1set of images with my 2nd set of images in photoshop. Again, I did save for web and saved it as page2.htm with its slice images. then i opened dreamwearer created a new html file. open my page1.html and page 2.html and copy pasted content of both the pages in to my new file in dreamweaver.

i am getting a feeling this is not the right way

in a nutshell:- what are the steps to get your layout from photoshop to tranfer in to dreamweaver?

hmm well i have never used slices, so i dont know what to tell you about that.

but what i do to make my layout is make the layout in dreamweaver using layers, tables, etc.. and then just create the images in photoshop to fill in the tables or whatever (using the same dimensions so that everything comes together nicely. If you use tables to organize your layout, make sure you set the border to 0, otherwise it leave a small gap)

I would just set the backround of your page with the image you want repeated and then build on top of that.

hope this helps, i didnt fully understand your question. let me know if i missed something or you need more clarification.

I wouldn't use the slice tool. This basically makes your whole site into an image which dramatically lowers load time. I would recommend designing it in Photoshop and then cutting only the images you need. I would then use Dreamweaver and hand code it.

Its very hard to get a liquid, working, dynamic design using slices when you dont know the length of the content that will be displayed...the tables dont like content that is too long, and it all comes out ugly.

You cut it by hand and you use CSS.
