WARNING: Lock your domains!

Make sure your domains are locked folks, I just receive the following email from 1and1 (they do something right at least!), I requested/authorized no transfer of this domain:

We would like to inform you that we are unable to process your transfer of
registrar request for the domain hothk.com.

Please unlock your domain hothk.com in the control panel and start the change
of registrar process again.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our support team
using the contact form in your Control Panel. You can access your Control
Panel using the following link:

It is possible that you received a phishing email in attempt to get you to click on their phoney link so they could grab your login and password info.

The email definitely was from 1and1, contained account info not included in my post here , email header trace looks legit and the link genuinely was admin.1and1.com

I got the exact same email from 1and1 but I'm trying to transfer a domain. Looks legit to me.

As said by Derek always LOCK your names and make sure the whois info including E-mail address is correct.
If someone initiates a transfer and you don't receive the notification or let it go your name will be transfered. It might even happen without you knowing and one day you wake up to realize your name has vanished !
This is because of a silly ICANN policy whereby domain transfers are allowed to go through unless explicitly denied. It should be the other way round and the owner should actually be forced to validate the transfer instead. Under the guise of fostering competition the transfer process is actually a risk to domain registrants.
Be careful and protect your names !

I have actually know people who this scam as such has acutually happened too and once it is complete you cannot do anything about it! It is a strange policy and I think that it should be changed but with the lock your are safe
