I just made the unpleasant discovery that I cannot freely push my ResellerCLub domains to a non-member of ResellerClub. I became a Resllerclub member for free when they took over for EstDomains. I recently sold a .com name, and the buyer cannot join Resellerclub without a large deposit. Nor can I transfer, since I only got the domain last month.

Reseller said they would allow a transfer to answerable.com for a charge roughly equivalent to renewal fee, and throw in a "free" renewal. However, if I understand correctly, the renewal only kicks in if the domain hasn't been renewed within the past 2 or 3 months. That's why they don't offer free transfer and simply charge for renewal. Either way, they keep the money.

Don't know how I will work this out, but I hope to warn others:

If your Estdomains have been transfered to Resellerclub, and you didn't open a reseller account, you cannot push them to anyone except reseller account holders.

I'm gonna have one pissed off buyer.

I know how you can solve this problem,
just create account at other resellerclub reseller,
like whiz.in or wsdreg.com and now you will have free resellerclub account for your buyer :)

They suggested that (using answerable) I thought. But then said a one year renewal was mandatory, as it was a transfer, not a push.

The buyer was good about it, but has asked for a total refund, so I have the name again. I may try to push to my whiz account and see what happens.

Thanks.

When all the troubles first became apparent with estdomains last year i started to move my names, having sent many tickets to them all were finally moved away from them. They all have a new home now :) But would also say ----- it was first highlighted here on NP about the troubles and thanks to members here, got so great advice :)

With .IN soon to be offered at GoDaddy I guess that Directi will lose a lot of names. This does, of course, depend on the price they're offering.

I have heard some reg companies are going to be doing promo on new reg and renew as well, but i guess people will go with who they feel safe with :)

That's true. The problem with me is that from my point of view there are currently two choices: Directi at $13 (or $3.50 a year ago) or Enom at $20. With a few names I would definitely go with Enom (for security/interface, etc.) but the problem is that the difference in price, when dealing in bulk, makes a significant impact on profits. As a result, I have all my .INs at Directi. Ideally, however, I could move them all over to Enom if they were to have a promo.
