A domain I dropped was picked up and registered at GoDaddy. I had this domain listed on GoDaddy Actions. Out of the blue, within only 4 days from the re-registration, I receive this warning..

GoDaddy said:
Dear Sir or Madam

It is against the policy of the godaddy® auction program to list domains that you don't own. If you sell a domain, it is your responsibility to cancel the listing. If you do not comply in the future, all of your current listings will be cancelled, and your auction privileges will be terminated.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

Regards,

This is an almost impossible request to comply with 100%. So I guess I'm going to lose GoDaddy as a sales platform some time into the future.

I got a similar warning once. The domain was regged at godaddy.

Seems like they could check for expired domains and automatically remove them from auctions. For example, when a domain is added to the auctions, the system schedules an expiration check (maybe two days after the indicated expiration date).

I might have misunderstood something but to me it doesn't seem such a big deal.

The warning doesn't refer to the names that automatically show on GDA, like those that are listed on Afternic for example, but to the ones you manually list and I think it's the owner's responsibility to delete the sold names.

You wouldn't keep a " for sale " sign on a car or a house you just sold or that doesn't belong to you would you? And I am pretty sure you wouldn't auction a painting that is not yours through an auction house either.

It's a common policy, btw : if they catch you doing that on DNS they can suspend your account

I'm dropping about 200 domains a month. I don't get these messages from Sedo or Afternic. @Sedo they ask you to verify your ownership if you list a domain which is already listed. @Afternic they ask you to request a deletion of the old listing and then they will verify your ownership. But @GoDaddy, they send you a snotty email if you don't delete the domain within 4 days from re-registration. It's not even listed by the new owner. I probably have hundreds of domains that I no longer own in my GoDaddy Account.

Well, Stub
I guarantee that if you do that @ DNS you are in trouble.

Having a big portfolio can be an hassle but there is software you could use to help organize it and unfortunately " law doesn't allow any ignorance " which means : rules are rules and if you want to use that marketplace you have to comply.

Like everywhere else in the world and in every other aspect of our life.

Nope, would you tell me?

I am not the owner of DNS and I was simply communicating that GD is not the only one doing it. Period.

Its really difficult to remember so many expiring names and its tedious task to delete it. Most of the auction market has the facility of auto deletion which reduces our work of deleting domains which are expired sold or brought after expiration by somebody else.

Instead of creating a auto mail generating software about warning and threatening people about account closure, Godaddy should develop a program to auto delete domains once the domains get expired. Instead of making some stupid rule to harass customers, they should device some technique to make things simpler.

Just MO.
