I just sold a domain through GoDaddy auctions for a reasonable price however it is from another registrar. So after the buyer paid it took 5 days for the funds to clear. Today the funds cleared and the auction status updated to "email buyer". Clicking it invokes a popup to send a message to the buyer's email. However I was also contacted by the buyer outside of that process. Is there no middleman from GoDaddy in this entire transaction? What if someone who's not the buyer just look ups my whois for the domain and sends me an email with information from the same registrar to push the domain to? I have not received a single update about the auction from GoDaddy.
The actual buyer then told me that GoDaddy would not let him buy a transfer for the domain because a broker will help facilitate the auction. However neither of us have yet to be contacted by one. Just what is going on here?
When you sell a domain on godaddy that is not from there should I always just transfer the domain to GoDaddy so they can just push it to the buyer's GoDaddy account and not have to worry about all of this?
