As there is a lot of talk online about Internet.bs being a registrar that looks after their clients, offers bulletproof domains, etc I would just like to share my recent experience with them:

My competitor sent them a fake complaint about my website claiming infringement (this has happened with other registrars before and it was communicated to me or resolved or I was able to transfer my domain name)

They disconnected my domain about 18 days ago, on the 5th of May without any communication or notice or anything. The first I found out about it was when I visited the site and saw it was dead.

I emailed them and ask them to resume my service of give me my EPP code so I could transfer to a new registrar. They requested a copy of my drivers license, passport & utility bill. I provided that to them 10 days ago - and guess what happens next?

They RE-ENABLE my domain name but point the name servers to their parked page so they can earn ad revenue from my traffic and customers, and that was the last I've heard of the situation.

So please avoid my mistake and go elsewhere - even GoDaddy, NameCheap etc are more reliable as "bulletproof" registrars because at least they give you the EPP code to go elsewhere.

Hi @misdemeanormsytery. We follow a standard process for handling abuse complaints which would be the same as most registrars, it very much depends on the activity on the website as to how we handle the report. In all circumstances we will notify our customer's of the complaint against them and give them a chance to respond so please DM your domain name so I can investigate if that has not happened in this case.

We don't usually suspend a domain because of infringement and I would be very surprised if that is the case here, as you have chosen to condemn us publicly it would be fair of you to give the full details so we can respond.

The only circumstance that we would unsuspend a domain and point it to our own servers is if it was past expiry date, in which case we are required to do so.

Well we never got any more info about it to be able to investigate.

If the op does not respond to his allegations then this topic needs to go under fake news.

The company has responded and is willing to investigate the issue. The op has gone silent so I will consider this a baseless claim against the company.

If you accuse someone on a public forum it is your responsibility to respond in a timely manner, the op has not done that.

Credibility here goes to Internet.bs for trying to resolve what at this point looks like a baseless claim.

I agree I will avoid them going forward. I got a domain off here for $1 a while back. Low and behold the registrar was InternetBS.net. So I created an account so it could be pushed to me.

A few months later renewal approaching so I went to transfer to my favorite registrar Epik. On 10/31. I logged in and chat with a support guy trying to get transfer codes, he enquired why did I want to transfer out. I told him. He told me how to get the authorization code. I insured my domain was unlocked. Went to Epik submitted transfer in request and got all green check marks.

Today I wake up and have email that current registrar refused the domain transfer and I must call them for approval.

I logged into InternetBS. My account still shows domain is not locked. But expires tomorrow now.

So I enter chat with Ivan S. After initial chat message Ivan is in Chat with you never get a response. Say hello a few times nothing. So I go to another device log in and start chat again. Get Ivan again. This time I get a response to check with new registrar I chat back they show you guys refused it. I sent many more response and again I keep seeing Ivan is typing but no response in chat field. Then I notice they now have my domain showing locked again. Complete BS

So I enquire about this in my one sided chat since chat person failed to respond after 30 minutes in chat window, I only see Ivan is typing. Then I noticed every time you touch the chat window it will say they are typing. So there is not always even a real person there at times and they use AI to look like they are present.

So I would say there name ends in BS for a reason. So I feel they have hijacked my domain. Why would I want to renew with them when it now expires tomorrow when customer service is lousy, they refuse transfer outs, they lock a domains you had unlocked for transfer.

@Internet.bs

@Steve Andersen seems to have a legitimate concern

Hopefully it can get rectified in a timely manner. (y)

I went ahead and renewed it, because tomorrow it was to expire. So I would not now be able to try transferring again before domain looses active status.

Hi Steve,

Firstly, apologies for your lack of support on Chat. I have asked our support manager to investigate this.

Secondly, I believe you may have been a little misled by the presentation of the transfer status within the Epik account. When you transfer a domain between Registrars there is a 5 day grace period before the transfer completes. During this time the losing registrar can actively approve or cancel the transfer, however if they do nothing the transfer will proceed on the fifth day if the domain is unlocked and the auth code is valid. I can see from the screenshot that you initiatied the transfer on the 31st of October, it would have gone through today at the end of the 5 day grace period.

If you had have received proper support over the chat then we would have proactively approved the transfer prior to the end of the 5 day grace period, I apologise that this wasn't the case. We don't automatically approve transfer outs as the 5 day grace is in place so domain owner's have some time to stop a transfer if it was done in error or by someone trying to steal a domain; I don't believe there are any Registrars who automatically approve transfer out.

I hope this has explained the situation adequately and once again I apologise for the support incident, this is not our standard level of support.

Sincerely,

Marc

At this point I think the headline of this topic is a bit misleading and I will report it to a moderator to get the title changed. There is no need to drag a company through the mud for a situation that is not realistic.

I only see a registrar that is trying hard to address their clients concerns.

May be a more realistic title like:

Discuss: Internet.bs Concerns

Having shown active involvement in addressing members concerns shows a proactive registrar that is working to fix any shortcomings.

Thank you @Internet.bs

Thank you @MapleDots! That would be nice :).

Having re-read your post @Steve Andersen I can see that Epik have said we rejected the transfer. I can't see any record of this in our logs. @Rob Monster maybe you could have someone check on your end and see if there are any logs? You'll know that we don't deny transfers out for no reason.

My experience with Internet.bs has been very good.

I will say if you bulk export your authcodes, in some cases when you copy and paste them formatting is incorrect, leading to the receiving registrar telling you the authcode was not right. I think in those cases I requested a new authcode, or opened the .csv file as a text file to copy and paste the authcode - in any case, my problem could be solved and internet.bs did help.

That is interesting to know, I will raise it with our tech team to find out why. And thank you for the positive feedback!

Thanks for engaging here. I just restarted that transfer now using what appears to be a valid auth code. If you could ACK that, it would be awesome. Thanks!
