Virtual Reality and Holograms are basically the same thing when used in a device like the hololens - don't you think? Depending on the method of display....

So what does this mean for VR domains vs. Hologram domains?

You are right about AR imo .

Its being marketed as MR, also because augmented reality=goggle glass failure.
Besides AR is a part of MR.

About real holograms, its really far.
to far for me...
There are ofcourse prototypes but it will take a lot of time.

But AR ia not entirely MR , its just a part of MR..

Well if they change it, holo still a great keyword. It is obvious holo wont be a trash. But i cant say same for vr-mr-ar. And trust me i have good names on both niche, probably more in vr side but i still see holo as a stronger investment.

I’m not sure why you think ‘Holo’ is going to be bigger than the VR abbreviation, type VR into Google and you see what comes up. Type in ‘holo’ and all you find is pictures of a female anime character and the holocaust, nothing on any virtual device.

I’ve not even invested too much in the AR abbreviation personally, because I believe companies involved in AR will all be involved in VR/MR too, so I think single ‘v’ will be the choice some companies will go with, I’m so convinced by that I’ve spent big money on it already and was in negotiations to spend big on it again yesterday.

It fell through, so I don’t mind saying what I was trying to buy, I was looking to buy v-commerce.

Type that in on Google and see what comes up, how it’s going to replace e-commerce. Look at past sales of what ‘e’ domains what have sold for, things like eFlowers for 7 figures.

It makes perfect sense that ‘v’ COULD (and I highlight the word COULD) because no one knows for sure, represent all different types of virtual tech.

You forget some strong multi billion powers are involved here.

VR wont take it all in, and also not V imo.

Giants that invest in AR and MR (abd Holo) wont let the media associate them with V or VR.

because holo is unique, but there are a lot of complication with vr-mr-ar.

Holo is branding term for hologram and holographic. This is simple.

Lets think about VR and see how many kw we can create from it;

VR
VirtualReality
VirtuReal
VirtualReal
VirtuReality
Virtual
Virtu
Virt
VReal
VReality

Also some of these work with keyword on both side and it doubles the amount again.

Even you can just use Reality, like CasinoReality would be a good brand.

But holo;

Holo
Hologram
Holographic

This is why i am confident about holo :/

Also holo is very generic, all sci-fi movies made people adopt this keyword. Just think about StarWars. Half of tech names mentioned in StarWars are holo related.

no need to imagine or invent new VR combinations. look at what sells in namebio. it's all there on record. and its all VR+kw .. then a few kw+VR.. few virtual+kw.. and hopefully virtualreality+kw will catch up in future. there is nothing complicated about VR and what sold or sells in VR.

the answer is simple.. we are humans and subjective on theswe matters. we like to defend what we invest in. I invest in VR so I like to think it'll do best. etc. it's always same story with humans.

nonetheless, VR has hundreds of namebio sales going for it. others do not. to me that is more than enough to decide where my ivnestment goes. cause namebio is not subjective like you and me and everyone else and it does not care where you put your money into. it just shows you what sells. and what does not. cheerds.

There is now and there is the future.

All might sell, its not a fight

VR is now! AR (maybe) Holo and MR are in the future. Maybe premiums will be sold sooner but majority of sales for those are not near..

of course its not fight. your the only one using this word.

I use word human nature.. being subjective.. sticking for what we decided to invest in etc.. you wouldn't be human if you didn't defend the path you took. lol

I started in VR a bit over a year ago. I looked at the VR thread. I looked at its activity level.. probabyl highest on all of namepros.. I read on all the big shots talking and investing in VR and I definitely looked at all the VR sales too. then I decided to go with VR. for those reasons. not with holo, not AR and not MR or others.. whether right or wrong time will tell. meanwhile, VR thread reamins most active.. VR investments keep growing.. net is buzzozing about it all over.. and sales keep adding to namebio. I'd say that's good sign. others who invested elsewhere.. well.. they may not say irts good sing. like I Said, its all subjective ;) gl to all. I hope we all make a lot of money.

I don't think it's about defending what you invest in, there's nothing to really defend - I think people should just invest what they believe in. If people think holo is going to be a used term in domain names, i say go for it.

As said i've not invested in that term myself, but if 'holo' becomes a big thing, I'll be well pleased for people who have invested in it on here.

I call it defending. but all I mean is people talking for and giving arguments (like I just did or you did) for why they went with VR or holo or AR etc..

I mean you invrsted in VR or I did.. are you gonna sit here and talk about why VR is bad? or you gonna sit here and talk why VR is good? I dunno. it's weird.
so I called it defending. but you can use any word you prefer.

Im invested in VR as well and hopefully getting a nice ROI soon..
Not defending any niche.

We cant look at other niches like we look at VR as VR has already started and is much more mature

Btw @alcy, look at the name of this thread. VR vs Hologram.

Thats why i said its not a fight. Different niches..

note that another cool thing about human nature is that even those that do defend their path and investment etc.. will try to make it very clear to others that they are not defending it. it's like a defense mechanism within a defense mechanism. gotta love human nature hehehe
jk.

who cares. invest what you believe in. do your research. then one day either get paid for it, and take the loss. at least you'll have no one but you to blame either way :) gl.

haha.. yues I saw the title.

last time I Saw X vs Y.. it was like tyson vs someoneElse in a box match.. so that was definitely a fight lol

someone might get confused by this title lol.

I've been into Holo since @3dDomainNames and @gilescoley first posted there buys 5 + years ago.

The current boom of regs and offers on Holo are just domainers buying into this niche, since the HoloLens News.

As For VR sold a few last year to endusers - so I'm not too fused eitherway.

End of the day it's what the enduser wants. Be it VR or Holo.

Lots of niches to be in - you gotta be smart and not be holding a bag full of crap at the end.

FX

well said as always master FX.
however what you call "end" may take a real real long time to reach and discover for things like VR.. or other niches. hard to say what domains will sell in VR, when VR is not quite here yet and will take 5-10 years to get here.

at least that is how I see it. I do not have special powers to tell whether some futre VR startup or company will not want this or that VR domain for trheir brand name.. for their app.. for their game title.. for their product.. for their service.. or for their X other things. that may be.

sure there domains that are more certain bets than others.. like.. VRgame.com holoGame.com etc.. but that's not what I am talking about... I am talking about the average joe owning average domains.. and taking some chances.. and thebn getting stuff like 7k for starVR.. 2k for VRdogfight... or any of the other "average" sales on namebio.

do u know what I mean mate?

I feel virtual reality & holograms are both terms that pretty much most of the general public aleady understand.

Commercially VR is easy to brand.

Commercially Holo is easy to brand.

I feel microsoft are using their brand around holograms because they know the public will be buzzing of the thought that holographic content will be part of our future.

AR & MR imo are tech terms that the majority of the public will not currently know about.

I think Microsoft branding their tech around holograms is a very smart move on their part.

Commercially I feel it is a sure winner.

I also have more VR names than any other niche I am invested in, but I do feel out of the two techs, VR is the starting point where as holo will be a successful future brand.

Well the point is not "what sells right now?" companies use the variations i typed on my post on their domain names. The biggest vr adult website doesnt use VR but it uses VirtualRealkw, also they are insisting on this branding term since they launched other type of platforms they still use VirtualRealkw. Also check kickstarter for new startups and see their names. I am sorry but you guys just are not objective enough imo. We had these arguments for countless times. I am not going to argue anymore.

Man we do tech domaining here and googling is not a good way to do investment. I dont say holo will beat vr today but in worst case it will double vr domains prices in same niche after the arrival of real hologram technology. Real Volumetric Holograms. No need to glasses i mean. I am also not a fan of microsofts branding style for holo. Because it is not true. E and V are not same and E includes V.

--

The blind believers of vr today are not different than the people who didnt believed Vr 5 years ago. You guys are just looking to google and namebio statistics. 5 years ago there were no statistic for those terms.

I estimate that Holo is universal, hologram is hologram in every language. Anyway, i just want to tell what i think is truth. I left the forum for a long time because people lost their minds with hype. Man reg VrPickleJarLid and he get likes...

argue? who is talking about arguing. nobody wants you to argue or argue with you. you will defend what you want. based on what you want. and so will I. and so will everyone else. who cares what I think or what you think. it's all specualation and opinion. the only real thing will be the sales in namebio when you check it in 5 years. in the exact manner in which to find out how VR domains or holo domains did in the last 5 years, is by going to namebio to view sales data for that period (obviously I'm excluding all private sales for obvious reasons). so of course namebio sales data matters. it is in fact the only thing that matters. it mattered 5 years ago, it matters today, and it will matter again 5 years from now. let's chat in 5 years then ;) cheers. gl.

well then.. I guess the VR vs Holo fight is on now lol
jk

but it sure will be fun to check namebio sales data in next 5-10 years.. follow up on this thread.. see who was right and wrong. unfortunately, I am not the kind of person who believes anyone here (Even FX lol) can say what this sales data will look like. I do not believe in crystal balls you see. but it's okay if you do! we can still be friends! ;)

either way, I hope we are all right and make money! holo and VR!

gl to all.

I hope so too, but i believe most of the investors will lose money even if the niche is successful..
House wins.
When people reg silly names with no thinking of a buyer in mind then even if they will make a sale once in a while , the renewels will kill them..

well like in any niche. there is the great names like VRgame or holoGame.. the average names with average chance to sell.. like I dunno.. VRdogfight (to use a nice little 2k recent VR sale).. and then there is bad names with bad chance of selling like VRpotatoPals or HoloFatPickle...

I do not believe in crystal balls like I Said.. but I do not believe it needs a crystal ball to deduce what I just said. and place most vr and holo domains in one of above categories.

but I'll say it again and again.. there is only one way to know what will sell better in the next 10 years.. holo or vr.. or to tell how well vr or holo will sell.. and that'll be by going to website namebio.com in 10 years + 1 day.
