I have a feeling that Microsoft is going to battle this and will not budge unless it is absolutely forced on them to. They can't admit that they couldn't do a simple search around the internet to see if the name was taken but they can go through a whole ordeal just to cover it up and make them look good in the end.

What domain? Microsoft already owns windowsvista.com + .net and other extensions...and they are using "privacy feature" on it

Don't you think the evil, rat-bastard attorneys would have this figured out in advance?
They'll argue that "Vista" is a Generic term, etc.
If so, that'll be good for all the Vista names.
I would be interested to see the Vista-variant list that Microsoft OPENLY registered. If it's only a few, then they are trying to pull a marketing stunt....although most marketing professionals will tell you that this would be branding-suicide. (It never helps to confuse the consumer, so I doubt it IMHO)
Lastly, MS is on the ropes with the pressure of Linux and open-source in general. The stakes are too big for them to *&%# around this time, especially since the release will be the longest chronological gap in the Windows release history.

That is just silly. Don't you think that MS has already thought about that?

They wouldn't just rename the OS, and then realise "shit, we forogt that Vista.com is taken".

I doubt it makes much difference to them, they can buy it outright or just leave it, it probably makes no difference.

No cause for concern, I very much doubt that MS will rename the OS again.

Yea, Microsoft didn't get to where they are by being stupid, obviously they don't care, and their really is no reason that they should. Microsoft will but themselves out of this with pocket change. Also, even if they don't own vista.com, they will own windowsvista.com, and I dont think it would make any difference at all.

If John really wants to go hardcore with this and stop microsoft from using his trademark he can and it doesn't matter how big Microsoft is. Microsoft can offer all the money they want and it still won't make a difference if John wants to stop them from using his trademark.

Of course he has the option of selling, but it is only up to John.
