Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Valve’s VR headset unboxing and super cute illustrated manual

inside25235.jpg

It has begun - Valve and HTC have shipped the first round of Vive VR headsets to developers of all sorts. What you're about to see is a series of photos of the Vive Dev Kit manual, the box, and the headset itself, as shipped to users across the United States, Canada, and abroad. As Valve's Chet Faliszek suggests, "this first wave includes a wide range of developers from major movie studios, triple A developers, to small indie teams working on their first title."

The Dallas Cowboys Will Soon Train Their Quarterbacks In Virtual Reality

20150606-dallas-cowboys2.jpg

It’s been 20 years since the Dallas Cowboys won a Super Bowl — but maybe some cutting-edge technology will help them turn things around.

The Cowboys have inked a two-year deal with StriVR Labs, a virtual reality sports startup, to train all of its quarterbacks using a VR headset, according to a source familiar with the deal. After donning the headset, players see a live-action 3-D video replay of a football play from the quarterback’s perspective, and can review that play from a first-person view over and over, looking in any direction.

Currently, StriVR’s technology is not interactive, but instead aims to teach quarterbacks decision-making skills in the context of a real play. It also aims to make it easier to give both starters and backup quarterbacks more opportunities to learn without needing the whole team on the field.

Former Stanford University kicker Derek Belch developed StriVR as a master’s thesis in the school’s VR lab, and spun the company out earlier this year after the technology was credited with helping the school turn around its football season.

After Stanford, which continues to use the technology, StriVR previously signed deals with five collegiate football programs: Arkansas, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Dartmouth.

I was telling a friend yesterday that VR could prove to be a Big problem for the tourism industry. For myself, it'll likely be the way I'll prefer to go about seeing/experiencing most places.
This actually will help disabled folks who can't travel to experience tourism.

Anyone thinking or interested in setting up a vr domain name website for the domainers here, like what was done at droneSdomains.com? I've got a couple domain name possibilities for it.
I was thinking about that and using "VirtualKeyword" or "VirtualRising" for it... Dunno still debating...

I've had a domain for a couple of years with the term 'oculusrift' in it. Never heard from Oculus re trademark, perhaps because its a fan site. But am no longer into keeping it. Wondering if I should bother offering it up for sale, or just let it expire due to the trademark?

Or contact them that you want to donate the domain and barter to be a beta tester. Thats what I did when I first started out domaining and my dumb arse reg teamoculusrift without thinking about TM. Got response and still pending. More likely I get to test

Offering it for sale would be considered bad faith, especially since you mention your knowledge of the TM in your post. Definitely best to let it go, IMO. Better yet, you can simply manually delete it from your account. As the VR industry continues to develop, we can be sure companies with TMs will most certainly become aggressive in defending their respective TMs. Again, IMO.

Donating or offering to run the fan site as a tribute is a good idea. Does it get traffic now? If not, just let it go ...

EDIT: I know it wouldn't get accepted btw, I just hate to see stuff go without a little effort to save.

Thank everyone who chimed in. I'll let it expire in July.

Look at this way, in addition to renewal fees, you could be saving yourself a potential UDRP moving forward.
