Hey there,

I am now done building the site vipedio.com, it's an online video tutorial site, allowing people to learn computer stuff through easy to understand video tutorials. See an example here:
http://www.vipedio.com/?search=c3eef621-05e6-43d7-a2bf-75c43cd71335

The website already receives quite a number of visitors, mostly due to my activities as a blog author and article writer. So once you own it, it will already come with visitors. Speaking of which, here are some stats for the past year 2006:

Successful server requests: 2,232,764 Requests
Successful requests in last 7 days: 29,631 Requests
Number of requests 2006: 2,201,111 Requests (272,174 page requests)

An extract of the most used queries (with number of requests):
1. web 2.0 design (381)
2. web 2.0 look (335)
3. pastell v2.0 (281)
4. digg screensaver (274)
5. hotdigg (183)
6. wikisearch (171)
7. web 2.0 culture (96)
8. web 2.0 look and feel (80)
9. 2.0culture (61)
10.2.0 culture (47)

An extract of the most used keywords (with number of requests):
1. 2.0 (1,984)
2. web (1,980)
3. design (866)
4. look (547)
5. screensaver (345)

Now, the website has a small administration panel to easily upload videos. It was intended to be user generated later, but I never implemented that part, unfortunately.

The site already comes with an integrated, really quick, search engine, helping to find videos easily. I have also put in quite some effort to allow people to share the video tutorials with their friends. So this is calling for the viral magic.

The site is compatible with the latest IE7, IE6 and Firefox and Firefox 2. Didn't check the other browsers, but it's likely they will work too.

The site comes with a forum, but that's currently running on a GoDaddy host, so you either provide your own forum system or host it at GoDaddy. I can transfer the files, but no database for the forum, as far as I know. But it's full of spam anyway. I picked the wrong forum system back then (SMF) and it got filled with spam. So you might want to take that point out of simply point it to some forum of your own (Great advertising / adsense opportunity!)

The site is programmed in PHP and MYSQL. Nothing fancy required (hey, it even ran on a GoDaddy webspace!).

I will deliver all files, including the current content (videos in flash format) plus the according database content and the domain transfer from GoDaddy.
If you would sign up (or already are) for a GoDaddy account, you could have the whole thing in under an hour.

The sadest thing is though, I have not tracked the unique visitors. I thought, hey, Godaddy is providing some neat statistics with it, so I figured that'd be sufficient. Unfortunately they don't seem to provide that information (unless you can tell me how to find it?). But the page requests still do their speaking, I think.

Price:
Starting at: $200

The first bidder with that price will be considered the final candidate unless someone tops that price within 1 day of listing it here.

I intended to sell it for $1000 upwards but I am damn busy this month and the domain registrations is running out with 22 of Jan, so I just want to have that off my shoulders. I have absolutely no time to maintain it. I love the site, so I hope you don't mess it up with a landing page or something!

Awaiting your public bids here, or any private anonymous bids via: [email protected]

If you have any questions, please ask.

Thank you, looking forward to your offer.

Is there anyway you make revenue on the site?

Thanks

Let me be honest, back then, I was just getting into the whole adsense stuff and I had figured: Let's attract users first, then smoothly blend in the ads (I was also thinking of switching in some monthly paid ads and stuff).

It never happend because I had to change jobs and the day I entered the new office was probably one of the last days I logged back into the site. I never wanted to sell it because it was so much work to build and I still believe in the massive potential of that (just imagine: a friend of yours says: hey, how can I do this or that? and you simply send him over to vipedio! - imagine photoshop tutorials, how to design a website tutorials, whatever!)

So, I figured: first the users, then the ads. That's why I never happened to implement them so far. I made quite some money (up to $20 a day in popular times) with some of the urls above the vipedio.com domain (I uploaded blog articles there as well). So once I am off it, people will ultimately drop to the root domain and would certainly generate some revenue.

I can not give any estimates on that, sorry pal.
