Sound like a misleading/weak sales pitch for the domain 'cameras.in'

You have mentioned that "a domain name is an investment that you can resell" .... "it's NOT going to lose value in 10 years"

Can you explain why webcam.in sold for $18,299 in 2007 on SEDO and later (almost 4 years) sold for almost half that price $9,200 in 2011 at the same venue.

You forget to mention that only 10.35 % of India speaks English and only 0.019 % speak it has a first language but you market the domains potential to penetrate the entire population most of whom can not spell the word 'cameras'.

First of all, thank you for watching the video. Have been a member here on Namepros since 2003 and domaining since 1998. Have hardly posted much in the forums and generally don't prefer to argue back and forth.

Individual domain names have many factors that could affect their pricing over period of time. The example you provided could have some factors that contributed to it. However, in general terms, very rarely have I seen one word premium domains go down in price. Sure, there is a risk in any investment.

As far as english goes in India, I am surprised .019% speak english as first language, that would be 0 in my opinion. Nonetheless, english is not taught as a second language in India its the medium of instruction in many schools (science, math, social etc are taught in english) in the cities and even you will find that in small towns/villages. Going with your numbers of 10%, its over 100 million english speaking folks in India, which is second only to the US. Not a bad target audience. If you have visited India, you would recognize the use of English as the primary business language and used in banners and shop/store front signs throughout the country. People recognize their kids need to learn English for business purposes and for their overall progress. In my opinion , most people even if they are not fluent in English, recognize keywords - cameras, hotels, banks, school etc. Now its the businesses who are the end users for most of the premium .in domains, so they should recognize the value. Heck, they have been advertising on national tv and radio in English for ages.

Most websites these days recognize the traffic that is coming from India (mostly english websites) and personally have seen most of linkedin traffic now is from India.

Thanks for reply @LeDomain I actual think cameras.in is a great domain and can't foresee a devaluation for this domain anytime soon.

Also, your English is superb - well above average !

I've thought about domains in other countries, i think a lot of people forget that there are populations of people who, whilst they speak English, there are words that derive from slang terms from their native language which could be interesting to use also. The internet has been around for less than 30 years, a domain is like buying a house. people have lived in houses for thousands of years!

.de for example is in the top 5 most used TLDS, i think something like 3% of traffic comes from a .de TLD most of the rest below that are 1%

Any country connected to global commerce like India is going to have a wide population of english speakers, a lot people in Germany speak english, when i went to Germany i didn't have any problems talking to people, and i imagine that would be no different to India, if i am in a central hub like a city.

India uses British english for obvious reasons, but in the last two decades there has been a ton of american influence in the english vocabulary in India. Not to mention social media helps spread common phrases among the teens and 20 somethings. In big Indian cities, a teenager there will quite resemble a teenager in Chicago or Newyork or London for that matter, in terms of their thought process and their affinity to products.

Thank You Suresh for the Video, you guys are doing best to educate and rise awareness in indian market.

Come to Paul he is the marketing expert and my best friend as he told he missed the boat but got lucky to grab few good one , I has huge faith in indian market which has to ripe in coming years but i mostly invest in .com by thinking i m too late for .in and for expensive keyword name i m always worried to loss in tm dispute so not good idea to buy in auction or participating in drop.

Again to rise price level up for whole market end user sales and development is the key factor.

Thanks for video and keep doing this forever my friend.

Thanks Nile...absolutely Yoocandoit, there is a lot of learning to do from a sales standpoint. Particularly the Indian market is very young, from domain name perspective. Most corporations have little to no idea of the value of these premium generic keywords.

I check this occasionaly (Google search trends) to see where .in is in comparison to the other big cctlds and .org etc. Its not a surprise with increasing internet traffic in India that this is happening. India exceeded US in online traffic last quarter. Good sign for the future of .in domainers, I would imagine. Search , Adwords, CPC and so forth are huge factors in valuation.

Huge change from 2005, when .in was introduced in the market. How will it look in 2025?

That is very interesting, what i also think is worth noting, people often talk about .de being a good investment yet this graph shows a peak between 2007 and 2009 then steady decline whereas .in has shown a prolonged steady bullish trend, that to me indicates a healthy market. Thanks for sharing!

Indian economy has a lot of tail winds right now, GDP growing at 7.5%, eCommerce expected to triple to 35 Billion in a couple of years, internet access and high speed 4g expected to reach even greater levels. Large country with many infrastructure issues, hence the slow build up over the years. With many large corporations now beginning to truly bet on India for future growth (Amazon, Google, Apple, Linkedin etc), bodes well for domainers. The future is unfolding in India and for many of us who have seen the .com growth in the US, its a repeat of history. This is not a pump and dump that we are currently seeing in other tlds's right now. So patience is the key..Thanks Yoocandoit
