As you can see everyone except the US spell words like 'Unfavourable' with a
'U'.
Seeing as the US has a population of only 295,000,000 (and there are are about 35 million latins who don't speak hardly any English) I think the British 'Alternative Spelling' wins hands down.

+ All of the other British Commonwealth Countries, Islands and Territories all spell it with a
'U'.
Still I guess the future of these spellings depends greatly on whether children grow up with a US or British version of Microsoft installed on their computers.
