It was Very Disapointing to have a thread killed dealing with a very important
issue as illegal immigration. It was just a copy of Congressman Steve King - Iowa, Fifth District website. Someone with the screen name Iravan found it heated and i quote.

Well everything posted is the truth and i guess the truth hurts. I also find the whole thing disgusting myself..

Also looking at the stickey about postings. There is no rule about posting a heated thread...

I don't think Iravan was making those comments towards you. The discussing illegal immigration is a heated/serious topic, therefore it should've been marked as heated.

I saw the post you made, you live in this country and it's your right to talk about what you want. However, know that you're always going to have someone read into it more than you've said. It's the world of political correctness. I'm a supporter of the staff here and always will be but I have to disagree with what was done. If you cannot post that then there should be no postings here period about immigration nor really any political topic for that matter.

Well as long as nobody was being racist against another, or anyone at all, just disucssing the issue, then yes the thread should be allowed to be discussed, we've had many heated threads on NamePros previously without any trouble at all.

But, thats just my 2 cents, and perhaps the staff saw something you may not have.

Perhaps. I guess what gets me the most is how it's "racist" to talk about illegal immigrants. I've heard many lovely adjectives hurled at people who discuss those who break the law in coming here and quite frankly I'm sick of it. Probably even more so when it comes from someone who doesn't even live in the same country.

I visited the link, and see no references or proof to back up his claims. Furthermore, even if the stats he mentions are true, they only focus on the negative things that those people do. There was no mention of the good things that some of those same immigrants do. I can understand how some might view it as a slanted perspective.

Listen, I'm tired of illegal immigrants sneaking into our country too, and I live in a state which borders Mexico, so the issue is in my face, and on my local news all the time. But all of those people are not drug dealers, drunk drivers, or killers, so I think we have to be careful not to get carried away with our emotions. I'm not saying the guy is right or wrong, but I can see how some of the stuff he said could be considered just a small step away from being racism.

Also looking at the stickey about postings. There is no rule about posting a heated thread...

Keep in mind, posting (or being a member) at NP is not your 'right' - it's a privilege. Any thread, any post may be removed for any reason at any time, if a Staff or FL feels it's inappropriate or disruptive. Some may scream "censorship" but it's really just a matter of keeping the peace.

Just because it's the break room doesn't mean anything goes. Each member of our crew does what they think is best, and though we may not always be right, I can promise you - the first priority is always the overall good of the community.

Also, I personally find it rather defiant that you've started this public thread to complain, instead of contacting one of us to enquire about the issue, or opening a thread in the PTS (private to staff) section. I find it even worse that you've singled out another member by name, casting him as the bad guy just because he disagreed with you.

I will leave the thread open to see if any of my colleagues has anything to add, since you feel so strongly about it being handled unfairly.

If you cannot post that then there should be no postings here period about immigration nor really any political topic for that matter.

I read up on the story, and can certainly see how things that the article has said could definately be considered racist:

What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration? It's almost as if he is labeling all illegal iimigrants as criminals (outside of being an illegal immigrant).

The article certainly seems to be racist, having not seen your thread though, I don't know whether or not there may have been some racist comments around.

Steve King is pretty much blatantly labeling all illegal criminals as drunk drivers, sex criminals and murderers (read my previous post), this is not right, labeling an entire race (or WHATEVER you want to call it mate) is simply wrong!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Iravan's actions also, it was entirely rational.

well the facts are that there have been illegal aliens that have killed people while there are driving drunk and there have been people murdered and there have been sex crimes.

And if the laws were enforced to remove them from the country and keep them from crossing the border those crimes against the victims would not been done.

Immigration in and of itself is not a bad thing, illegal immigration is. Go through the process and I have no problem accepting you.. circumvent it and I take umbrage at you butting in line ahead of someone else who deserves to be there.

Funny that Hispanics (seem to) feel they alone are being singled out and seem to be making a racial issue of things.. the issue at hand is "illegal" immigration, no matter what your nationality or ethnicity.. at least that's the way I understand it.

That being said, I'm all for some sort of judicated amnesty (because that's the sane rational solution to an out of control situation), provided we can stop further abuse of the immigration system. After all, why have an immigration process if it's not being used properly or enforced?

Americans would have Meth whether or not there are illegal immigrants here or not ... We would still have deaths by Drunk Drivers as well. After all the BS settles , The real issue to politicians is Tax Dollars - Despite the smoke screen excuses and stats they are stating.

If you really want to break it down .... Unless you are a 100% native american - We were all immigrants at one time - And I doubt the natives would use the same word as "Illegal" , But I seriously doubt all of our descendants were welcome

Some of the worse possible people we've had or have in this country actually were allowed in legally with visa's .... They didn't come here to find work - but to Bring terror with them ....

I see your point about the problems existing without illegal immigration, but just agreeing with the Congressman's point that cutting down on illegal immigration might also cut down on some of the drug, etc problems we have as well.

Again, I point out the keyword is illegal.. presumably if they are an illegal immigrant, they don't belong here. I'd feel the same way about illegal immigrants to any country.. use the process and I have no problem.

One of the things I enjoy most about NamePros is the opportunity to interact globally and perhaps understand a bit more about the world we live in.. can't do that without discussion.
