that is the best i think at the moment. If you read at vbulletin forums it's a small risk to change now.
It's better to wait until the next release.

What's the small risk? Could you give me a link to it because I'm running 3.6.8 and I'd like to know about it.

NamePros has a lot of custom mods from what I know and an upgrade will surely mean an upgrade to the mods too, which will take a while. Probably waiting for the next big one because of this.

Been posted before some time I think, basically the amount of work involved to upgrade VB due to all the custom mods etc here...the magnitude of that work far out weighs the benefits of upgrade.

...he says :p

I can just imagine the database size. That would be an incredible amount of work just for an upgrade. I agree with RJ. =D

How about "modifying" just the parts involving AJAX from the latest version? That is the only thing that makes it obvious namepros uses an older version.

The upgrade doesn't touch the databases.

Yes it does. Namepros is running vb 3.0 - There are several major differences between 3.0 and 3.6. Because of this, and the many modifications (there are lots that you dont know about!) it would take a long time and a lot of work to upgrade.

Other than "cool ajax effects" what are you gaining from the upgrade? Pretty much nothing. A few tweaks....a feature or two (mainly unwanted ones). Not really something worth taking NamePros offline for hours/days for IMHO.

As Morph said, its been discussed lots of times before;

etc.

Its not worth the hassle when there are other things that are more beneficial to the NP members than a silly little upgrade ;)
