I've got a list of single word english domains for these extensions:

BIZ
TV
ASIA
TEL

How would you rate their value? I am thinking of registering them then selling it...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

To me, those are almost the same. It's going to make some difference depending on what the domain is. Taikoban.asia may be better than Taikoban.biz, but Insurancequotes.biz may be better than Insurancequotes.asia.

I would rate them this way with single English words:
BIZ
ASIA
TV
TEL

But depending on the words I might forget about TV and TEL.

IMO:

BIZ
TV(this is a hit or miss situation though,so if not a good keyword, .tv goes to 3rd place then)
ASIA
TEL

.tel cannot be compared to any ...it is a static template site , .tv is visual based (should be)
.asia is perhaps ok if you are making a website and live in asia ? .biz is shunned by many domainers, although the enduser perhaps doesn't care as long as you have what they want

I would rate them:

TV
BIZ
ASIA
TEL

TEL/ASIA are clearly the worst on the list.

.ASIA is pointless as all the big countries there already have popular ccTLD's.

.TV can be good with keywords that make sense.

.BIZ is popular for product/service type domains and used mainly by small businesses as a cheaper alternative. Overall premium keywords .BIZ are more likely to find end users from my own experience.

I suppose each of them has value. But as long as prefix of these domain name is vocabulary word or short and lovely abbreviation.

In my Simplified Domain Extension Nomenclatureยฎ 2010 they all belong to the subprime category :imho:

If your aim is to resell them, I would say think twice about it.

I like them in this order

.Biz
.Tv
.Asia/.Tel

Although i feel it all depends on the name IMO

The only one of those I'd rate highly is .TV : an abbreviation almost as common as the full word, the whole world knows what a TV is and the abbreviation is the same in almost all languages so the .TV is very easy to remember. Especially for sites with visual content, .TV is gold material.

I'm less enthousiast about the others, and would go as far as saying .tel and .biz are equally close-to-worthless as .name for example.

.Asia is a question mark, it's early day to say how the extention will develop. I fear it will be less succesful as .EU because Europe is quite monocultural while Asia is a huge territory with a lot of totally different cultures covered in it. So .EU may be just acceptable because Europe is a relatively tiny area with a somewhat "European culture", .asia doesn't match those criteria so I doubt there is something like an "Asian identity". Especially in economically powerful countries (China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia etc) the own ccTLD and the .com will remain widely used whereas I don't see .asia booming.
Maybe I'm wrong though, future will tell, but I'm not very optimistic about .asia

PS Mainhoondon, is that avatar really you? ;)

None of the them, IMHO.

BIZ
TV
ASIA
TEL

For pure contact info while "on the go" (not a developed website), I might even go with the highly brandable .TEL here as best of the bunch (that's how little I think of the expensive, yet lowly, ".TV", the long & obscure ".ASIA", and the un-businesslike slang ".BIZ"), IMHO.

All the best,
Jeff B-)

BMugFord makes a great point about Dot Asia being pointless because local CCTLD are well established. That's the exact reason why I bought into Dot Asia. If the local are well known, established, popular, and is growing exponentially, then Dot Asia will also benefit from that growth.

I told myself, I would not invest in Dot Asia if I see that .cn, .jp, .kr, .in is small not growing, not popular, but its the exact opposite, which is the reason to invest.

.Asia
.TV
.Tel
.BiZ

I say Dot Asia has the greatest potential as noted (my opinion) from BMugFord statement that the region local cctlds' are growing, large, and popular.

You will not be making any money off any of those extensions.

Yes, .biz can occasionally resell, but you aren't going to be plucking those kinds of words out of the open namespace, barring dumb luck.

As far as ranking them in order, they rank as follows

Fail
Fail
Fail
Fail

Insert whatever TLD you please into whatever spot you want. It doesn't matter. The outcome is the same.

I remember in 2003 when I was at DomainState looking at the for sale the LLL.com and LL.com I was like. "These will probably never sell, there's no use for them whatsover, what the use of xyz.com anyway? or 1P.com or H3.com ? These are useless".

That was 2003. (or early 2004). ------> 6 to 7 years forward. I am like "HMMMMMM"

sums up my thought exactly. Just keep a few premium name of those domain extensions, you've nothing to lose. Forget about the less-premium ones :D

Yes, because comparing the growth cycle of .com values with the future of .tel and .asia is obviously a fantastic comparison...

Ya know, when I was a kid, my dad used to buy vintage, running Pontiac GTO's for less than 1000 dollars. We were never without at least 2. Anyway, these days, those same cars are worth tens- and in a few rare cases, hundreds- of thousands of dollars.

Today when I was at the grocery store, I thought about dad, his old GTO's and how much those cars are worth now, so I immediately purchased 100 boxes of saltine crackers, just in case those go up in value too.

To the O.P.

Use your own judgement.
They all work well and HAVE made money for experienced people.
Research all sales and appraisals threads before spending a ton of cash on any of those extensions.

My experience out of those 4, is only .tv,
and I have a few sales that I have done very well with.

Dongsman,

Your last sentence was sarcastic and pretty much useless to the O.P.
but I must admit out of all the times I have chuckled recently at some funny Posts on this board...
I haven't laughed that hard in a while!

Noticed a few dot biz with bids on SEDO lately while the other tlds for sale have none.
