Hello guys,

I have a domain name - "product keyword" .io

Same domain with .com was recently sold for $15K on namejet.

It has 300K searches per month.

Do you think $1500 is a fair price for such domain?

Thanks

$1500 sounds fair, but take in consideration that if the product does not somehow refer to something related to gadgets or tech, it may be harder to convince a person about its value.

I don't know a lot about .io so take this as an opinion and nothing more than that.

I think 10% of the .com is too high at this moment. I see the .net normally at 10% of .com. While .io has proven to be a strong alternative, it is mainly focussed on the tech niche.

I would say $1500 would be a good asking price if you keep room for negotiation. I would personally be happy to fetch $750 for a .io name at this point. You could also hold on to the name and wait for inbound requests and/or .io establishing itself beyond the tech market.

Hard to say as that depends on the specific keyword. .io is an obscure ccTLD popular mostly among the IT crowd, few of whom are willing to invest serious money in domains. Outside this circle, very few people (end users) are even aware of this ccTLD.

Thank you, guys! The domain name is related to tech product. I was thinking to make a drop shipping site, but I won't have the time. So I was thinking to put it on auction at namejet or flippa.

IO can flop in auction, so go back a few pages in the main IO thread and check out the potential pitfalls before you choose your venue

How long before expiry? More time will help, if it's a good enough tech related name you might get offers with just a lander anyway.

A lot of useful info here since I will be selling or auctioning off my own (gameapps.io) maybe next month....
