Hello,
Just wanted to know how .io domains are faring in the current market.
I have my sights on a couple of .io domains though I'm a bit sceptical because of the .io extension. The words don't have much to do with Indian Ocean or Input Output (which is what I think .io is used for). I used valuate.com(estibot) and got these numbers, though I have no idea what they mean
1.Appraisal:$4200, Searches:834,520
2.Appraisal:$6300, Searched:307,500
Do these numbers mean that I should get atleast reg price ($40-$50) for them?
Thanks.

Automatic evaluation tools are not taken seriously in the world of domain investing. They are good if you want to sell a domain to somebody and you send them to Estibot and they show an inflated price. If you buy domains based on automatic appraisal value, you are basically throwing money out of the window.

I recently sold a two word .COM that had an estibot value of over $9000 but in the end the buyer and myself agreed on a $300 price because that was what we agreed it's "actual" value to be, regardless of the estibot. As far as .IO domains go, it's hit or miss. Across multiple domain markets I've found that the most successful .IO domains tend to be the ones directly targeted to technology related fields.

.IO is mainly being used for tech startups

never used Estibot or Valuate for anything

If you are new to the industry, stick to .COM until you get the hang of it, it will save you money
