Value of domains that end with *forum.com or *blog.com

I've been wondering, what is the value in general of these dot coms?

I've seen a few of these offered for sale unsuccessfully.

A related question: what types of keywords have the most value with these endings? Entertainment keywords, internet media? eCommerce?
