Value by traffic?

I've seen a good number of rule of thumb style valuation estimates for domains based on characters (like on 3character.com), I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb for .com values based on traffic?

Like on Godaddy auctions its pretty obvious that a domain with 10,000 uniques will normally attract bidders whereas a site with 10 uniques may or may not.

Is there a way to say (in general):

Domains w/monthly visitors:
1000 = $x
5000 = $y
10000 = $z
20000 = etc, and so on...

Or does that not usually scale well or consistently enough to establish a value?

There are no rules of thumb for domain valuation period. The ones for 3 char .com or whatever are the minimum expected value for random domains. It doesn't say anything about customer demand. For example IBM.com is worth more than say xyz.com. p2p.com is worth more than d8x.com etc.

One could say this is, in fact, a rule of thumb as it is not specific and official. Anyways, this is what I am asking about, does it exist for traffic based estimates, or only for characters?
