I tried this intermittently over the years at a variety of forums, but never had much success. I've tred a few appraches

  • List a couple of names with prices, and leave alone for a month or more
  • List several names without prices
  • Feature one name and change daily
  • List and link to a sales list that is relevant to the forum.
Has anyone else had any success with this approach - if so, which did you find was the best method?

I remember people used to do dodgy appraisals all day long so they could offer more posts for you to advertise in their signature lines. If the name is good enough it will gain attention I think

Signature promotion is just an added avenue to gain exposure. Not the main channel

It didn't do us any harm!

I wonder if it is worth joining a specialist board if I have more than (say) a dozen names for sale related to their speciality. I could always post some photos to get some sig exposure. I seem to have photos for everything. :)

I've received some traffic and inquiries through my NP signature ... so I'm keeping with a couple of links and other domain names someone can DM me about. I agreee with @Haykay2005 - just another avenue of exposure.

I tend to have my signature on forums which links to my website.

One such forum has nothing to do with domaining, but it's surprising just how many visitors I get (according to Google Analytics or whatever their name is now) from people clicking my link there.

To me, additional, and free, advertising, can do no harm.
