I've come across these two scripts which are not just very cheap, but also seem to deliver.

http://www.topmediascript.com/demo.html

http://www.vshare.in/

Both of them allow you to embed YouTube codes and other video sharing codes, so you don't have to actually host the videos on your server. But of course, if you want to, you can host the videos as well.

What do you think?

Are these a better option that the DM tools provided? With either of those options you can have your own ads appearing as well as have greater control over how your site develops.

Welcome your thoughts...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I've seen alot of scripts that were being sold for cheap and later on, there were no updates available, so you have to live with what you got. You know, scripts aren't 100% error-free/secure, they need constant updates, etc. I wouldn't go with buying a ready made script that is probably won't be updated later on, unless I am willing to spend $$$$ to customize it and fix it up. I dont really know much about DM tools as I haven't tested them out, but if they have plans to allow users to add their own ads within the pages, then I would go with DM tools, since they are available for free, and that they would constantly be updated from time to time according to user demands. Not to mention that with DM tools, its being more of a social networking site.

looks like its much more professional than the others, I'm also looking for this type of script, maybe someone tried it over here?

I have looked at their showcase and features, and some of the sites look professionally done.

they even have a discussion forum made for the script, thats another good thing about it. I haven't really done my research, but maybe you should compare it to other video related scripts? maybe there are other decent ones that you are missing?

I've been looking around for this for a while now and I haven't found any good scripts for free or cheap. There is a list of scripts at www.scriptcopy.com/youtube/.

One of the scripts also has a free version that isn't supported (meaning it's buggy). My plan was to take that and spend some money to get it customized. That's always cheaper than paying someone to start from scratch.

The free script is here.
There is a thread about is on DP but I don't know if NP likes links to other forums (if not feel free to delete it)

I'm actually impressed by clip share, they are charging around $199 for their 'pro' script, and they are having a similar business model as vbulletin, that way they are attracting more people, and are able to spend more time to fix it and present it as a better solution to people like us. I just hope that clip share wont end up as something like hivemail. I will research more about those type of scripts hopefully by next week.

kwan, I dont really see the point of buying a ready made script that is buggy, because at the end of the day, you will have to keep fixing/customizing it, and thats alot of cash to spend..

Just a note on TopMediaScript (as i'm its owner) - one poster mentioned something about low price scripts and their lack of updates; this is not something that will happen with TMS - since acquiring this script we have worked tirelessly on updates and enhancements, and have some big plans for the future.

So, don't always be fooled by the low price tag ;)

is there a script that allows you to both allows users to upload their own videos as well as showing you tube, metacafe etc, videos.

i would love to see something similar to what me.tv tools are being offered.

This can be done with TopMediaScript - by default admins can choose to either add embed codes or upload their own videos, games etc - and we also have a simple free mod which gives that option to users/visitors too.

Hi All,
Im looking at a bunch of Script options in developing 1 of my 2 dot tv's. Im considering Top Media Script, however i've only been able to see a couple templates offered. Does anyone have a listing of a all the websites that are using Top Media Script thaat i could review? Maybe im seeing the script on some of the sites im looking at but I am not sure..

Basicly what i am looking for is a way for people to be able to both upoad their own pics and videos. For what I am looking to do they really wouldnt have to upload YouTube videos, they would basicly just have to create a profile and upload their own videos and have an option to upload pics as well.

If anyone has any other websites that they are using/running or know of and could provide a list of the site name with the company they are using for their script (if known) that would be extremely helpful in my research!! thanks!

westblock - thanks a lot for your comments, i'm glad you're happy with everything =)

Jim - we have a total of 5 templates available; red, blue and grey versions of the one running on http://www.vidaddicts.com - the default blue v1.1 template seen on http://www.wootvid.com and the recently released "Retro Green" theme from http://www.vidznstuff.info

All of these templates are completely free and we're regularly working on new ones. We can also do custom work depending on what you're looking for - http://vidaguerra.tv and http://www.nipslipz.com are examples or recent custom work we've done, in addition to the small customization done on halloweenchannel.tv as mentioned in westblock's post
