as I predicted just yesterday in another thread, the internet as we know it is bound to change much sooner than we think.
here's another piece of news that just hit the street:
The US has indicated that it may give up some control of net domain names. - read full article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/5213470.stm
One of the steps may include privatisation of Icann - isn't it funny that all of this happens right after the last Buildenberg group meeting? [I am referring to my previous post: http://www.namepros.com/220778-top-secret-discussion-board-serious-domain-2.html
In what way do you guys think this will affect the domain name aftermarket industry?

ivoy said:what the heck! ... well, I am glad that I have created a playground!
meantime though, I have discovered something pretty interesting - a connection between the Bilderberg group (a secretive organization of politicians and business leaders from around the world) and ICANN.
Here's a quote:
(...) Bildt [former prime minister of Sweden] would have met Esther Dyson at last year's meeting. That seems innocent enough, until you notice that he is suddenly chairing a major panel for ICANN, the internet Domain Names organisation, which she was President of until recently. I imagine Bildt will take over from Barnevik as Steering Committee member, and is a rising star in the elite. He is now well placed to influence the development of the internet, that delinquent medium the elite would love to control (as they control all other media). And IT is a growing aspect of these summits! (...)

So maybe that secret board is not really an online forum, but a traditional meeting place of the Bilderberg click!? There is way too much $$$ to be made in the domain world for the big fish to ignore it and I am sure that sooner or later they'll turn some laws around in their favor.
