It appears the domain industry has been starting to take notice of the .us namespace over the past year, read DnJournal.com .us growth and Namepros with even greater expectations for the year to come.

So I thought it would be a good idea to ask everyone to show us your .us domain names. You can post your favorites or your entire portfolio.

A guy just offered me mid $x,xxx but backed out at the last minute, because he thinks he's gonna spend less money on the .com. I was NOT happy.

Noticed a .us in this month's greatdomains auction, hold.us.

So I submitted a few.

Their response:

- healthcareplan.us (Quality requirements not met)
- healthservices.us (Quality requirements not met)
- madeinusa.us (Quality requirements not met)
- mobilebanking.us (Quality requirements not met)
- modifications.us (Quality requirements not met)

Ummm. Hold.us is better than these? Right.

Typical sedo.

IMO hold.us is far superior to the above listed domains.

Godaddy Expiring Auction
Keywest.us $1268

I was all over it until the last few minutes then 6 other bidders jumped in.

No. Not at all. He said he needed it for his company. He offered. I accepted. Then things went haywire when I wanted to use escrow. I even offered to throw in .biz for free. I'm still not sure what happened. I brought up escrow & he flipped out.

Be thankful.

Let me guess: what he really wanted to do was buy it through paypal so that he could reverse the charge after the domain transfer. (Paypal does not protect sellers when it comes to non-tangible property)

That way, he would keep his money and get a domain for free.

Yup! Just another typical day in the land of Sedo.

I have no idea who screens the submissions for the Great Domains, but they need to be fired.

I have had premium names denied, and crap names accepted in the same auction before.

Exactly! I either thought that, or I thought he wanted to send me a check in the mail.

Sedo definitely has problems in terms of how they select names but I would argue none of your names are premium either. Sedo does not value .us names very much and I guarantee that hold.us is owned by somebody that has a relationship with a broker at Sedo. I've given up trying to figure it out.

I couldn't even get discount.us in their auction which I think is a pretty premium keyword.

hold.us seems better that your domains on paper.
1 word, 4 characters, you can market it as "Hold Us" etc.

madeinusa.us is a good name but it is 3 words and it might be confusing to some people: ******usa.us

Not including discount.us seems very odd though.

Thanks for the comments all, truly appreciate it. But curious, what would you do with hold? What kind of site could you build with it? Poker maybe? Seems like it might be a flip to another domainer, but what end user would have a use for it?

Yes, understanding sedo would be like a man understanding a woman. But that they passed on discount.us is definitely over the top.

I have also submitted domains to Sedo and was turned down.

:|

I suspect that there's a bit of cronyism going on, but what can one do?

I used to get bent out of shape about this, but as long as I'm selling my other domains, it doesn't matter a whole lot to me.

I'm more interested in the color green.

Perhaps once this industry matures a bit, these places will figure out that the best selling model begins with selecting quality domains.

Meanwhile, keep on truckin'!

Oh, I wasn't upset, or even surprised. Just thought it was funny. Whatever(.us), it's their venue. :)

Pretty strong for introducing.us. I have to think that is an end user using the hack angle but that seems steep to me.
