It appears the domain industry has been starting to take notice of the .us namespace over the past year, read DnJournal.com .us growth and Namepros with even greater expectations for the year to come.

So I thought it would be a good idea to ask everyone to show us your .us domain names. You can post your favorites or your entire portfolio.

so of course it will work as a domain in any extension.

Dubai is not so well known here in the USA but that could change.

Really? I don't think I could find someone I know that doesn't know where Dubai is and/or something about the place.

Dubai is pretty much becoming the new Disney World or Las Vegas of the well-to-do crowd. However, there are other examples as well that are less well known:

belize.de (Apparently the belizian consulate in Germany)
Bahamas.de (travel site)
saudiarabia.us (Saudi news and atlas)
syria.co.uk (Geography info site)

Some people will register anything.

Then next year it drops...and someone else registers it or grabs it.

And so the cycle continues...

It is folly to argue the name is not worth registering given the auction finished at $750 with a number of bids. The one thing I would say is .us isn't well known so it doesn't work as well as say france.co.uk or italy.ca, but the value is clear.

If someone created a type of pizza in Zimbabwe and called it "Pierro"
and all the extensions were taken except "Pierro.us", would it make sense
to register it?

NO!!! Nobody here in the USA knows what Pierro is.

But if you were going to import Pierro into the USA and make a business
out of it, then YES!!! Register it.

Most American's know what "Dubai" is, I'd hope so anyway.

Dubai.us works just like Pizza.us works, the idea is to sell, "pizza" or "dubai", these are both things Americans spend money on. Yes "Dubai, USA" does not exist, but neither does "Pizza, USA", these are both product names.
