US domains - Question

Only USA residents can register .us domains ? I am not USA resident, can I lost .us domains if I register their ?

If I register with private protection, can I lost domain ? I think, no one will know that I am a non-citizen of the United States.

10 .us domains have good parametrs, I want register their in namecheap, but afraid.
