Updated domain DNS, but still showing parked Sedo page.

I'm working on something offline, and I decided to upload it and change the domain DNS from Sedo parking to my host's nameservers. After doing this, the domain still showed a parked Sedo page. So I tried setting the registrar's parked page just to see if my settings were possibly at fault, but this did not work either as the Sedo parked page still showed. I cleared my browser's cache, and tried doing this across FF, IE, and Chrome... but no luck.

The whois shows the right DNS address... so why am I still being directed to Sedo?

It's called DNS propagation. All you can do is wait.

Depends how long it takes for your DNS to resolve. It can take up to 48hrs although the norm is around 24hrs.

moniker has the fastest dns propagation around, just in case you need to speed up your routing in the future.

Find file called "hosts". Notice it doesn't have any extension.
It is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Open that file with Note Pad and add...

IP address of your server Tab YourDomainName.com
Example could be...

xxx.xxx.xxx (Tab) YourDomainName.com

Save the file.

That's it.
You don't have to wait.

Anyone else will have to wait, but, not you.

yep , thats how u do it

or the easiest way is dont visit a parked page if you know you are going to put into development that day.
it gets cached and clearing cache just don't work. parked.com pages for some reason stay around forever

another way round it if you dont want to do above is use a proxy as then not linked to your ip, and you can view it like that

megaproxy.com is a nice simple one

Thanks for the info. I don't need to see it at the domain immediately as I can just view it offline, but that's pretty cool to know. Megaproxy also showed the domain display correctly, so I guess it's just waiting (on my end) for now.

Yeah...you just have to wait as all nameserver changes take around 24-48 hours to be reflected...
