Has anyone used undeveloped.com to sell domains? They claim to be able to increase a domainers sales by 54%.

AfternicAfternic
sedo and afternic are 20% I believe
Sedo escrow is for 3% (min. 60 USD/EUR/GBP).
It can be even for 0% - if Buyer pays this fee.

First instance of possible non-payment at UD. Previous sales were all immediate payments.
This is a third day so I think the buyer has bailed. lol
Of course I do not fault UD for it.

When the number of nonpaying buyers for a platform whether in a domain related venue or any other real world business reaches a certain level, patterns will start to emerge through big data analysis that will indicate whether those instances are random or are the result of an organized effort to discredit a certain company. Eventually those patterns will start to give a clear picture about the origin and the source of those false bids which absent any non economical motives or agendas usually points to the competitors of the business being targeted. The fact that Undeveloped guarantees the payment to domainers even if the buyer fails to pay is a very attractive feature that can put Undeveloped above the rest and perhaps that is something that the competition can not afford to let happen, but if proven that these non paying buyers are part of a conspiracy to tarnish Undeveloped then that can constituent racketeering which is a very serious charge.

I have a feeling that the number of non paying buyers at Undeveloped are going to drop drastically after this post. :)

Happy to say mentioning the instalments option persuaded a buyer to go way above their alleged final offer, got paid right away. Great stuff.

Took a bit of hunting to find out how to do a bulk export of an account:

Go >Portfolio then tick one or all domain names, only then do the available operations appear above the table, including Export. The page shows (currently) max 250 domains, but a discreet option above the table lets you select all the domains in your account, not just those shown on the page.

I recommend exporting this stuff from all platforms from time to time - gives you a record of prices you set.

I would like it if Undeveloped added 2FA too.
There is no fast transfer here but someone could change payment details on an account or cause issues by changing prices - buyers would not get the domains if they paid at the new magically lower prices but it would get everyone very annoyed and take up time.

As Per non paying bidder, just an IDEA ! all , but one could technically counter at a higher price, and then add a comment that you have now set a buy it now on listing itself for XXXX , which is Firm, Fair, and available to purchase and be sent through checkout process towards new ownership..

few ways you could spin this, by even setting it at what they offer. either way if there serious, and its a price agreed on, they will be forced to be a " paying bidder " by creating this funnel to newly set bin listing, even though your original was make offer.

hope this helps, its all random crap i thought of while standing on the ledge of the earth. .. :)

@Undeveloped It has been a couple of days and I have not been getting response for my questions at UD, which I asked in a conversation window of a negotiated deal - while waiting for the payment. So I will ask it here as others may find it helpful too. Sorry if this was already asked earlier - not gonna read back 70 pages.
  • Is there a limit to the number of times reminders are sent to such possibly deserted lead ?
  • At what interval are these reminders sent ?
  • How long do you guys recommend a seller to wait before you are sure that it is a fake inquiry so that the name can be switched back for sale ?
The only thing more disappointing when a fake buyer bails on a negotiated deal is probably not getting a response from your own service provider.

In my case, I have unchecked on the sold button, since I wanted this domain to be back on the market as soon as possible. It been 7 days since the agreement was reached and it is possible that I could be missing other leads.

-------------------------------------------------------------
In case someone needs the data for any sort of analysis - The domain is a two-keywords brandable, the agreed amount was $700 and the "buyer" is from canada.

I know the feeling all to well.

They don't answer on weekends :)
Last time I dealt with them I never got a response for 2+ weeks. So that "no weekends" excuse isn't an excuse.
I disliked my experience so much with Undeveloped that I stopped my payment plan deal with the domain owner. Unfortunate for the owner of the domain. Told him I would be more than willing to continue without undeveloped.

I'm the seller on a very large escrow holding transaction at escrow.com and they are pretty slow with responses and monthly payment processing too. I think the issue is that on the domain holding escrows the payment processing is handled manually. So, it's not just UnDeveloped that is slow with these payment plan escrows.

Good morning @Primary Names,

Thank you for your response. The agreement was reached on the 6th so we have been chasing your buyer for a total of 5 full days now. Regarding your statement of not getting a response, your question got stated in the negotiation thread on the 9th of February. Considering this was a Friday the first outmost response you would receive would be within 1 business day as we do not reply to these inquiries during weekends. If you wish to receive a faster response it might be advisable to inquire with our chat as this is checked more regularly.

In answering your questions:
1. We have a total of 5 email follow-ups. These emails are backed by 3 to 4 private phone calls and emails of our representatives.
2. The first email is sent 24 hours after reaching an agreement. From this point on the remaining emails will be sent in 4 consecutive weeks. These emails are backed up by 3 private email and phone call follow-ups of our representatives.
3. We recommend our sellers to give their buyers at least 7 days before terminating a transaction as some take quite long before submitting their payment. However, you are not bound to this and could always ask us to relist the domain in advance.

Have a great week.

@LaszloSchenk I guess my case got caught up in the middle of a weekend. Hoping for similar enthusiasm in the negotiation thread. Thanks.

@Undeveloped @LaszloSchenk Just thinking out loud here but would it not be an idea to allow sellers the option to mark their domains/account as requiring immediate payment/instalment?

Also, when an offer is accepted on a domain, mark it as something like Under Offer, rather than sold? Therefore keeping it listed and giving the impulsive and eager buyers their chance too.

Hi Domains21,

As a seller you can already do that. When you disable the "make offer" option (in your for sale page settings) then the buyer only has the option to complete checkout at the BIN or in installments.

Your second request is already implemented for negotiated deals. We now show (based on the feedback received here) that there's a pending sale rather than that the domain is sold.

Take care!

Reza

Hey Reza, surprised I missed that about the listing update. :xf.confused: Looks like I need to improve on my reading in this thread.

Would it perhaps be worthwhile to implement (as a seller selectable option) that immediate payment is required on an accepted make offer negotiation also then? (with clear notices on listing, in chat window and in any emails being displayed so that potential buyer understands this to be the case)

There's quite some activity in this thread, even I miss messages sometimes :).

Some payment options aren't instant (Bankwire & Sepa or direct debit for example) which makes that model a bit hard to implement. Also, when a buyer places a bid and you accept it but they read their email 12-24 or 36 hours later, this only would add additional friction. Buyers would then contact us, request if the sale can go through after all or complain that they've already paid via bank wire but the transaction isn't active anymore etc.

What we've been thinking about and want to test soon is to add the option for sellers to auto-cancel a transaction if the buyer doesn't pay in a specified timeframe (3-7-14 days). We'll then make this condition extremely clear to the buyer.

One reason why I'm personally not that keen to introduce features like the above is that we have data that proofs that the above will hurt sales and your bottom line. So the dilemma we have is that the feature will make sellers happy but effectively also make sure you'll generate less revenue in the end.
