These are the steps I am taking to finding a proper type-in domain that will earn me a proper income. Please correct me if I missed any steps.

1. Go to overture and typed in a keyword
2. Try every keyword with an OVT of 3000+
3. Find the one with the most OVT no matter how long it is
4. Register it.

Are these the right steps?

Yeah, that's one several ways, but nothing is guaranteed. You'll have to test your strategy out over time.
