Am I missing something here or is Twitter.com a PR10 while Google.com is a PR9?

Google has set some criteria for page ranking. That doesn't mean their site meets the criteria 100%. Google.co.uk's PR is only 7 out of 10.

Exactly.. Even Facebook also is having PR 9.

Not a particularly difficult concept as to why Google would have a worse PR than, say, Twitter.

1) Google is the most popular search engine in the world and so doesn't to rank for any particular keywords. You search the keywords on Google, not search for Google using keywords!

2) People don't link to Google anywhere near as much as they link to Twitter. You tend to link to the direct source, not the search engine!

3) Their site isn't built with SEO particularly in mind - quite simply, because as noted before, it doesn't need to be!

:bingo:

Because Google's Toolbar Page Rank is a measure of backlinks.

Just say "no" to thinking toolbar page rank is an accurate metric - it's not. Use something like Domain Authority instead. And just plain common sense :).

Twitter is only one website but Google has multiple version like Google.com PR9, Google.co.uk PR7, Google.com.au PR7, Google.ca PR7, Google.co.in PR7 . If we combined all those in one I think we atleast cross PR10.

well said. Its all about calculation of facts which has been decided by Google itself. Simply they will not only use it for their own reputation.
