domain tvtin.com new name, why google?

i'm new to this and i know google listings are everything when it comes to getting hits on your site, but i've just registered a couple of names that google comes up with very little for, surely that makes my unbranded domain names easier to rise up the few pages of responses? have i missed the point.

also got satonIT.com.

i went for short, sweet, (available) .coms
is this the wrong track???
