Just seen a great .tv name - this will be my first 'tv' purchase. Is this extension worth investing in or is it overhyped?

It's for sure a great TLD to invest in, but you must do what you are doing. Not all the keywords fit .tv very well. Also don't expect to be a TLD for an easy flip, because it goes by far better with end users than with resellers.
