A few of my .TV sites' search engine ranking from the US for the domain's keywords

WorkoutRoutines.tv (Google page ??, Yahoo page 1)

VestidosdeNovia.tv (Google page ??, Yahoo page 2)

Rutinas.tv (Google page 23, Yahoo page ?? - about two months old)

Sprinters.tv (Google page??, Yahoo page 1 first position)

Plyometrics.tv (Google page ??, Yahoo page 2)

It appears Yahoo places more importance on site age but once you get past a few months it looks like Yahoo positions .TV sites much more favorably than Google.

Now we'll look at some .Net/info sites and see how Google/Yahoo rank them...

CutePuppies.net (Google page 1, Yahoo page 11 - site about 10 weeks old)

GuiaParaBodas.net (Google page 1, Yahoo page 1 - #1 position on both)

VestidosdeDamas.net (Google page ??, Yahoo page 5 - minimal textual content/no recent updates)

GenericDomains.net (Google page 1, Yahoo page 1)

VestidodeBoda.info (Google page 3, Yahoo page 1 - minimal textual content/no recent updates)

i wrote this some times, i ll repeat it onced more
my personal experience with developed .tv domains shows without any doubt that Google doesnt rank them they way Yahoo does.
Its like Google put .tv's in the sand box more time than usual while Yahoo lets them to rank right away.

I've seen Google place less emphasis on site age as I have seen new .Net sites rank fairly quickly on Google while with Yahoo it takes a while. I had a few .TV sites which a few weeks ago were on X page of Google (not the first two or three but at least I could find them on pages 7, 11 and ~35 respectively). But then those sites just suddenly disappeared from those positions to ??? at Google. Fresh content is a factor in positioning and I don't update every day but if my .TV sites are ranked much higher by Yahoo then it says Google emphasizes certain factors differently. And yet I still see static minisites with little content (likely not fresh) still being ranked in the first few pages of Google for their keywords. So while I suppose frequent updates, link building and age can overcome this bias I'm sticking by my opinion that Google doesn't give a .TV site the same ranking boost it might give a .Com/.Net with the same development profile.

Bing seems to place even more importance on site or domain age as I don't see many of my sites ranked well at Bing.

OnSpot - interesting comment regarding your observation that Google puts .TV sites in the sandbox for longer than Yahoo. I recall a conversation with another .TV developer who believed Google didn't give any adverse treatment to the extension as long as your site was maintained with fresh content. But I suspect his domains and sites were older than mine. So perhaps after a site is a year old, the discrepancy in positioning goes away. I hope so but I won't know for many months. In either case, after ignoring Yahoo for some time, it was nice to discover that Yahoo will position .TV sites at least three months old fairly well as long as they have sufficient content and updates.

I just noticed that our site FortLauderdaleBeach.tv is on page one of Yahoo for the phrase...

"Fort Lauderdale Beach"
