.tv .tv Drops A few questions?

If someone can answer a few of these questions that would be most helpful.

1) Does any drop catching company allow .tv backorders?

2) Does .tv follow the normal drop pattern/periods?

3) If a .tv is set to expire today April 5,2007, when would it drop and be available for hand reg.

4) Who is this Net Turner fellow / Company, they have a massive portfolio of .tv names and very very good ones to.

1) SnapNames and Pool don't catch .TVs.
It is possible to "catch" .TVs regged at GoDaddy, on their TDNAM platform, if the GoDaddy customer doesn't renew the name.
Go at TDNAM > See Listings tab > Check Sale Type: Expired Name Auction and Domain Extension: TV and you get the list...

2) There is a redemption period and a pending delete period. The whole process takes about 2 and a half month. The period differs from a registrar to another: It seems that Demand Media is shortening the deleting process to get the premiums back faster... And by GoDaddy for example, the deleting process is much longer.

3) For example: a name which expired on 18th january will drop in the 3 next days.
If the name you're looking for seems good, and is regged at eNom, there is a very very small chance you could handreg it when it drops... You could handreg it as a nice premium

4) I don't know... Is it the online.tv portfolio?

Thanks for the info Pascal, rep added. Wish Pool and Snapnames could catch for all extensions. Oh well! A little manual/software monitering won't kill me.

As for Net Turner, they are one of the big players that came in early. They own Videos.com amongst other gems.

I have found that enom is catching and keeping drops for their premium release. So, good luck competing with enom for .tv drops.

Yeah, I noticed that for a few names I was researching. I really don't like that practice by Enom, but then again, alot of other registrars are doing similar things now.

There are no companies that back order .tv other than GoDaddy for names that are dropping FROM GoDaddy (that I am aware of). If you see a dropping name and the underlying registry data shows that is is currently registered there, you can place a backorder for $18.99; GoDaddy Backorder

If it does drop it goes to TDNAM; to auction. If you placed a back order on it, $10 of the $18.99 goes to open the auction. If you win the auction, the $9.99 covers the reg fee. It does not guarantee you the name, only the opening bid.

The charts were created by the CEO of Pool for an ICANN presentation.

I was just reviewing the GoDaddy info and they do NOT allow back orders of dot tv. They do move their dropping dot tv names to the TDNAM auction market place, but you cannot backorder them prior to going there.

Turner, turner, turner......As in Ted Turner? Would a Turner be out getting his hands on a possible hot property? Maybe owning rights to movies, would be a good segwey to showing them online for profit.....Nah, he's probably not that smart.

This assumes, of course, that it is Ted Turner. Which my spidey paranoia is tingling.
