Ok, I would like to know what the general consensus is on hyphens in terms of development. My first question would be what is the impact of a hyphen on SEO for any experts in seo out there, two keywords divided by a hyphen??
My second is not so much a question but an observation regarding google ads and urls with hyphens in them. I would think that if you are developing a domain whereby you will drive traffic to it via adwords and did not own the the generic compounded word, then the next best thing visually would be buying the hyphen. For example, let use a hyphen I just saw in a thread owned by EQ, Cayman-Islands.tv, a great domain, imo. If I saw this url in a google ad on the right side of a search page I would be more tempted to click it than lets say TravelCaymanIslands.com because the hyphen is the closest to the root and shows visually more authority. Am I correct in this observation?? So if I am a developer and could not get my hands on the root CaymanIslands.tv and wanted to drive traffic via google ads then the best option would be to purchase a hyphen, correct or not?
Looking for any thoughts on this. Sorry EQ I used your domain as an example but I think it has a lot of potential to an end user and thought processes like this have not really been explored. I think there is actual merit in purchasing a hyphen domain depending on factors like I have pointed about above that we should all consider.
