Hello,

In the last 2 months, we have turned down 2 offers for $10k ... each for the following domains:

rev.tv
boss.tv

Are we nuts?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Offer not always means that sale will happen...
I already had such case... $10K was accepted by me - then buyer disappeared...

Imho it depends on how much do you think you can get from both domains.
If you believe that you can get much more it's ok to pass, but if you think that (for example) 15K is the very best you can get then I think it's better to accept a sure 10K now. I have regretted not accepting 500$ on a .tv and never regretted to refuse 45K for another one...
In any case if they were mine I would have accepted the 10K or Rev and not for Boss.

In this game, if you keep waiting for "great" prices you'll stay hungry..

First off, congrats on the offers. Those are very nice .tv names.

My opinion is it comes down to this. Do you feel better hanging onto those names or taking the 20k an investing in others...

Buying 4 - 5k .coms would be more diversity and thus a better position 10 years from now.

Without knowing the stength of .tv 5-10 years from now, personally I'd feel more comfortable in .com

But, very nice names nonetheless best of luck in the future. Your not in a bad spot either way.

If the offers were through brokers, I'm wondering " if " their respective clients will instruct the brokers to increase their offers to acquire the names.

10K is a nice opening offer to purchase so would expect a bit higher follow-up and fairly soon too, if remain seriously interested or else the names may otherwise be sold.

Nuts - no!

Guts - yes!

Yes you are nuts; you operate 2-3 if not more successful businesses which you make a lot of money from. You Created drop catching solution which beats name.com for the premium .tv and see you have acquired much better names than rev.tv and boss.tv.

I wouldn't pay $100 for boss.tv, you come on here and fluant your offers tooting your horn Tan it seems like your getting greedy with your business. I sold better names for way less than 10k than those two.

You turned down 10k each for boss.Tuvalu and rev.Tuvalu? Yep, you're nuts.

I don't think you are nuts, but the value comes from your own realistic price point that you set; as you know.

TV buyers can have large budgets and even larger vision for the namespace. So why take $10k when you can ask for 3x-5x more.

Whatever happens, good luck to you.

Cam.tv sold for 13k, 7 more higher sales in the last year.

if cam.tv sold for $13k - then rev and boss tv offers were on the mark.

I don't think you're nuts - only you know what you value your own names at and how those prices fit in with your now personal circumstances.

That said, personally, I would have taken the $10k on REV.tv and countered for BOSS.tv

As for the comment that one of the commenters here has never heard of $10k .tv sales to domainers. I know this may be quite a shock to most people outside the small group who specialise in .tv names but there are quite a lot of five figure sales - even among domainers. I personally have had at least three $10k plus .tv sales to well known domainers here at namepros. None of those sales were for two-letter names.

And yes, as mentioned earlier, USA.tv was recently verified as being sold for $125k (to a domain investor) so high five / low six figures sums are readily achievable.

Finally, if you have the cash and patience to wait then I wish you the best. Personally, I'm getting more in the 'bread today' than the 'jam tomorrow' mode - helped on by the incredible fall in the Pound since Brexit. I own US.tv, as an example, and would easily now sell for high five figures, whereas a few years ago I turned down $70k as being way below my value expectations.

Whatever you do - its nice that you are in a position to have the dilemma of whether to take $20k or leave it on the table

I think that would have been a fairly decent sale and something I would have probably taken.
They are both names that you could get 2 or 3 times that for but also might be ages before you even get another enquiry, how many enquiries have you had for the domains?

The question is could you have taken the $20K now and turned that into even more of the next couple of years against what you may of may not get in time to come on these.

Still both good domains so I am sure you'll get someone else come along at some stage again.

Legally, it's Tuvalu; but in fact, it's TeleVision. So it has its market price.

Which doesnt mean i dont agree with you that they are nuts ))

You're wrong on one statement, and incomplete on the other. In FACT, it's Tuvalu. Dot-TV is the ccTLD for the island-nation of Tuvalu. That's just the plain, dull FACT. In practice, and in the world of marketing, it is overwhelmingly considered to mean TeleVision, but that will probably change after US companies are shamed into using their own ccTLD and end-users wise up and get educated. Legally, it can be either because there's no law prohibiting the arbitrary designation of any particular meaning or label to an acronym for a ccTLD. You can say .TV stands for Theodore Vasquez and if you can get someone to believe it, there's nothing illegal about it.

the question to ask is:
imagine you sold both domains for 20K,
can you invest 20K in domains today ,
that you can resell for 500% to XXXX% within 2-3 year ?

You should have taken the money. Now good luck getting that same amount or more for those names.

I don't know. Looked over the comps. Not all that many major .tv sales. I think you are holding out trying to get one of the long long shot huge sales. Don't see it but then I don't speculate in .tv.

Good luck. You've got nerves of steel to stand strong in face of 20k on those.

Hope you get your score.

Sell for $20K both and get 4-10 similar quality .tv domains wholesale to sit on.
