Hey guys,

I recently won a prerelease auction on namejet for a .com domain.. namejet charged my creditcard and sent me an email that they will create an Enom account within 3 business days..

From your experience..how long does it take them to create the account? and the more important question is can I call them and ask them to lift the auction lock as a 1 time curtsey? anybody tried to do this? I know that namejet takes the domains back and they do it most of the times..If the person who owns the domain notices that it got expired then most likely he will run to Enom and then they will take the domain from me .. I want to send it to another registrar so they cant take it back..

Usually within 3 business days. I don't think they will lift the hold though.

Sounds good in theory; unfortunately per ICANN rules once your new domain changes essential whois info (to yours, being the buyer) you cannot transfer the domain out to a different registrar for 60 days. Pushes within the same registrar, yes, transfers out, no.

I got the domain today and there is noway to remove it from the account, I even tried to push it to my hostgator account which is under Enom but they refused, I called 3 times without luck..I guess I have to wait 42 days :'( and check it out everyday to see if the previous owner will take it back

Once it is in your account I think there is no way the previous owner can take it back without filing some legal paperwork.

Don't forget the registrars' "clawback", stu.

They do sell the domain on namejet ( pre-release) and once you get it, the domain has to stay 42 days.. basically they sell u the domain and give the other owner 42 days redemption period.. he/she has to pay them around 250$ to get the domain back.. lol ..

basically its a win win situation on both sides, if the other person doesn't claim it then they sell it to for 69$ min.. if the other person decides the domain is valuable and will pay the 250$ + reg fee then they give it back to them and give you back your 69$ .. such a scam but it is what it is I guess, I don't like namejet in general and Enom but I need the domain and there is no other way to get it except that.. if it goes to pending delete.. I will never dream to get it

The ICANN 60 lock only applies to the following -

1.) New registrations. 60 Days from registration date.
2.) Registrar to Registrar transfer. The lock is for 60 days after the transfer is completed.

There is no lock related to contact information. Any lock related to that is a registrar policy.

I frequently purchase pre-release domains on SnapNames.com, and can virtually always transfer those out right away, even though whois information has changed.

It's a known issue with Enom: http://www.domainquestions.com/has-namejet-ever-taken-a-domain-back-from-you/
Other registrars normally allow transferring the name out as soon as you've got it. However, I suspect they can still recover the name from the new registrar during the redemption period if they really want it. The most interesting question what happens to the name if you've already managed to flip it to the new owner...
