Trying to get a handle on what's going on here - Enom Reactivation Pending

A dotcom domain I've been trying to land for years was apparently allowed to expire by the original owner on 1/29 (despite my efforts to reach him over the years with no response). The whois data changed to the infamous Enom Reactivation Period (reactivation-pending AT enom dot com). Network Solutions has shown the expiration as 1/29/13 throughout, but I've seen a couple of whois sites show the expiration as 1/29/14.

This domain went through the Namejet auction starting and expired yesterday with no bids. I've tried to place a $69 back order at Nametjet but was unable, something about missing the backorder deadline (seems a little odd). As of tonight, I can place a back order starting at a $500 bid. I also have back orders in at Pool, Snapnames, etc.

Should I just move on and not put too much effort into this, or is there still the potential of landing it when (if) it deletes? I was thinking this domain should delete soon, but I'm concerned that they are leeching onto it to try turning a profit (it hasn't exactly been a high traffic domain during the 10 years it was previously owned).

The domain probably was available exclusively at namejet as prerelease, I think you may have missed the deadline to place a bid. At this point, I assume the domain will now enter redemption status and delete in approx. 1 month. Then it will be deleted and become available for registration again. Somebody else might want it too. You may have to place a backorder with the major dropcatchers in order to increase the odds of catching that domain.

Need to see the whois to comment further.

Here's the whois at ENOM. It's interesting that the top of the page says the domain has expired, despite the 1/29/2014 expiration date.

Here is the whois (I was off on the expiration date):

I just backordered a .COM tonight on NJ, and the expiration date was 1/30.
It looks like you might have missed the backorder deadline by a few days.

Assuming no one backordered it, it will probably end up deleting in around 1 1/2 months.

A quick question.

Let's say you backorder a domain on Go Daddy. Do you get the domain immediately after the expiration period is over?

Take this domain as an example. It expires in 22 hours. Does that mean if I backorder it on Go Daddy I will get it after 22 hours (if my bid is the highest)?

And another thing, I keep hearing that a Go Daddy backorder costs $8,99 while when I look at Go Daddy it says $20,98. Why? Discount code or what?

Not sure, that Godaddy would get that domain, it is loose in catching domain names.. it is better to backorder with Namejet or snapnames.

Update on this. Last week I noticed the WHOIS still says the domain is expired, but instead of the "Reactivation Period" data, it shows the original owner of the domain along with the 2014 expiration date noted above. I was expecting the status of this domain to change last week, but so far it appears Enom is hanging onto it. Anyone with thoughts, advice?

, it shows the original owner of the domain along with the 2014 expiration date noted above.
Then it was probably renewed by the original registrant.

Then it was probably renewed by the original registrant.

This doesn't appear to be the case. Enom still shows "This name has EXPIRED, the former whois information is:" at the top of the WHOIS record.

So now it's early July and it appears good old Enom plans to leech onto this domain. It's low traffic - I'm familiar with what it was used for dating back to 2000 - but I'm guessing they see value in it because it's a two word domain. On NameJet I'm the only bidder and have been for a few months. It's not like this thing is in high demand. I suppose my options are to wait until early next year and see if it drops or contact Enom and see if they'll turn it loose. Has anyone had experience with the latter?
