The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
:xf.confused:

No disrespect intended to anyone involved, but that seems low for this premium new gTLD.

It would have sold for 2-3x as much at that crazy NamesCon Live Auction. O_o

It might be worth 10K in 5-10 Years.

As of right now, I would much rather have two CVCV.coms...

That's all I'll say on the subject.

Be careful of Premium domain names. I too tasted the bitterness of the so called "premium" domain name. Someone bought The.Couch for $ 1,000 Premium price and the renewal charge is also $ 1,000 per year. He sold someone during the year for a loss. The the second buyer sold it to me for $ 65. I bought it in only three months ago, I noticed that the renewal charge is $ 1,000, you know what? I sold it for just ONE DOLLAR in a Ebay auction this month early.

Hey, I surprised myself! I had a hunch that Travel.Agency would sell around $10K mark, and I was right :)
I think I should have my own Psychic Hotline... not a bad idea, huh :)

Agree, however, Ali Zandi is a pretty smart domainer. He went with his gut feelings and flipped the domain with good ROI :)

I'd go for 5-10 VCVCs or VCCVs ;)

Congrats, Ali! You are guru of no reserve auctions :) Never afraid to lose, hence ahead of the game )

And there it goes another thread about travel.agency. As far as I can see, two newbies were bidding at the end. There is a great chance that this sale will not happen. Too much for that name, but the marketing efforts of zandi and all his associates here and there made it happen.

Depends on the initial purchase cost.

The domain sold for this price because of the publicity it created..He created a hype and sold it..If the owner was a beginner then he would have never sold ..

This name is still on Flippa ? I guess it will just be flipped from one domainer to another.

The NamesCon $3,000 sale looks to not have gone through, maybe the buyer didn't know $499 a year? The guy who paid $9,999 still owns it and is on auction closing in 6 days on @FlippaDomains

$15 to $24 renewals every year for who knows how long before it will be sold, and must be sold for more than 10k to make it worthwhile.

I would rather spend the $ on some good dot coms instead.

I did say 10K wow I was so CLOSE

I am simply saying direct registry gtld submissions at special "venues" go for much higher amounts for "premium" names, for whatever reason that may be.

That has been shown over and over again, as mentioned, Namescon was a prime example.

The higher priced sales at namescon had their premiums rolled back to general renewal, otherwise it is on par.

Well, there are too many Watch-Dogs around to protect fellow novice domainers from these misleading deals.
The BOTTOM LINE IS: Always ask for the renewal fee when you are dealing with nGTLDS ==> Red-Flag :)

It's generally highly recommended to check all fees / conditions before purchasing a domain / whatever ;)

For those looking for a Flippa sales link to the current auction, Travel.Agency redirects to the listing.

It looks like it was auctioned on Flippa (unsold) 219 days ago. LINK HERE

Something strange to me is the seller mentions the link to the auction where he purchased it; but the page has been removed by @FlippaDomains Not saying anything shady is going on as we all know it sold via that link; just find it strange to promote a dead type link. Maybe Flippa should make the original sale viewable again?

Thanks for the info.
Flippa should require the seller to disclose the renewal fee if it's $499. That's important info. the buyer needs to know.

I think the renewal fee for travel.agency was pretty close to $400 per year! Please correct me if misquote the renewal fee. Yes, Ali Zandi did the right thing :)
$499 I think..

Just the right combination :)
The average domainer would not have the level of marketing that this domain had behind it.

It has it's own thread at namepros which has like double digit pages in it's thread, featured status, and top of domaining.com, so it had a higher level of marketing, on top of that being a 30 day auction.

I think The.Agency is the best name in this extension that was released. It also comes with a $500 annual renewal.

Flippa is still a reseller platform, and you have to remember than when it comes to this sale, the buyer had to see some value.

Agreed, beats me how this thread, which was an out and out marketing exercise, was allowed to continue and even thrive as it did.

Not started by the seller perhaps, but almost as good as,with subsequent input.
Happy to have someone do the same for mine. (~:

Let us end this publicity for this domain name. We get no gain in boasting or criticizing this much hyped domain name. Let us concentrate on something else worth beneficial.

It's a win because ROI was made and that in domaining is a goal achieved IMO. It doesn't matter what extension it is as a profit was made and that's all that matters and the auction ran for a while and the buyer is aware of their purchase.

All business will have a P&L and if you are in the positive that's a great result IMO

The domain sold for this price because of the publicity it created..He created a hype and sold it..If the owner was a beginner then he would have never sold ..

100% true. Thats why he promotes his site to newbies and offers domaining advice.

More eyeballs on your site more publicity for your auctions. Smart move on this part.

If you are perceived as an expert then people will believe that everything you say is gold.

Many people who appear on the Sherpa show take advantage of their "celebrity" to promote their blogs.

They make a small fortune off newbies who click their affiliate links and buy the recommended domains.

I still think the name is a great name, and valuable, just not now, maybe not worth 10K.

Who knows, five years from now it may be worth 50K and we will all feel stupid for not buying it.
