http://dealfiesta.com just obtained PR 4 after the very recent PR update. I would like to release a new version of it, but that would mean changing the home page to http://www.dealfiesta.com/index.php, a page with no PR.

Is there any way I can make it so the new site is PR 4 without waiting for the next update?

Yep :),

By doing nothing :D.

To google, (only when it comes to PR really) http://dealfiesta.com and http://www.dealfiesta.com/index.php are pretty much the same thing, whatever your default page is, you could say is the same PR as your domain basically.

You won't see a fall in PR if you change your website's home page at all.

Hope that clears it up for you,
Rhett.

It is the same thing, but at the same time it isn't. Take into consderation, it is a complete URL that gets a PR Value. Other subpages get other PR values, or in the worst of cases none at all.

In this case, if I understand you right:
If you call your Domain with domain.tld/ you have a PR4.
If you call your Domain with domain.tld/index.php you have a different PR (or none)

Make sure your index page is always called by domain.tld/ (without the index.php). The content of the index.php should come bei default.

Redo all internal links that point to /index.php in such a way that they point to domain.tld/. Then you can be sure that your "index" page is allways shown with PR4.

I hope that was not too confusing. :red:

Hey Richard, thanks for explaining, as I didn't really know all that exactly. Would this improve your traffic at all with google, having say domain.com being PR4 and domain.com/index.html being PR4 also do you know?

Thanks! Rep added.

The PR itself is only one of the factors taken into consideration for your position in the Google search. To make it easier to understand, lets say the PR is a prearrangement of the indexing order, while showing search results. The final order is made up of a lot more factors, that together with PR determine how relevant your page might be to the searched phrase.

However, a good PR helps, and also looks good, when someone using i.e. the Google toolbar, sees your PR. It's also a little "Prestige".

Still, it is more important to have relevant content, and a search engine friendly site.
